I have intentionally not read any of the article or the comments in order to make a prediction on this “random” crime:

1. The perp is black, as is any accomplice.

2. The victim is white, probably observantly Jewish.

I just spent a long weekend in Amish country. They're kind of odd people, but I found them completely non-threatening.

This attack was on W 14th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues around 2pm in the afternoon.

This isn’t a particularly dangerous area at all. Strange.

Yeah, an old white guy needs to stay locked in his apartment and never dare to go out in mid-afternoon and wander into a deadly commercial district, a few blocks from the Apple Store, a known hangout for muggers and thieves. /s
