The US Senate disagreed with you in 1993. She was confirmed by a vote of 93 to 3. She was known to be extremely liberal at the time of her appointment based on her history of decisions on the federal bench as well as her service as general counsel of the American Civil Liberties Union.
All but three Republicans (Helms, Nickles, and Smith) lined up to vote for Ginsburg even though during her confirmation hearing she indicated she would not subscribe to a narrow approach to deciding if the Constitution includes rights not specified in the text.
It is interesting how the Republicans supported such a far left judge in mass shortly after the brutal scorched earth campaigns by the Democrats against the nominations to the Court Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas by a Republican president. A year later Republicans overwhelmingly voted to approve another leftist - Stephen Breyer - to the court.
More evidence the “conservative” Republicans in the Senate value membership in the club more than their sworn duty to the Constitution and the people. They demonstrate time after time they have no stomach for a fight on principle.
