That may be the case if you could prove his pot use was habitual and there was evidence of some type of legal action taken against him regarding that issue.

Until the Gun Control Act of 1968 is changed, having a Medical Marijuana card is sufficient to make him a prohibited person.

Or if he tests positive for Marijuana, his pot use is current and that alone is sufficient.

There is no requirement in the law to show any sort of legal action was taken against him for pot use. Any evidence of current pot use and evidence of firearm ownership is sufficient to be charged and tried.

So all I was pointing out was that your statement "Do you want to revoke the gun permits for everyone that drinks alcohol or gets high on pot?" is already federal law.

Your point makes no sense whatsoever.

My point was this has been known on FR for 3 days now. And yet this thread started out as if there had been no updates on this story. Again, Freepers leaping to judge the cop when we already know that the video images were reversed, the cop pulled him over because he was a suspect, the girl in the car has changed her story several times and the dead man had multiple, serious charges brought against him that were dismissed - probably because the system is overwhelmed with people like him. Whatever he was, he was a menace on the road.

I take driving seriously. I assume you do too. One more scary driver off the road is ok with me.

In Ohio, do you even need a CCW to possess in a vehicle?

Mosby is a refection of government all over the country. She’s typical. We literally have thousands of people in government posing as leaders and executives, who have no damn business being in these positions. Like Ginsburg for instance.

Hey, how many people on this site had Castile totally guilty describing him as Blood or a Crip with no CW permit?

I’d estimate dozens.

There seem to be lots people offering up their preconceived biased distorted opinions and comments.

Ya gotta be careful.

This shows he had a permit to carry a weapon.

It does not mean he had a permit to disregard police instructions while being pulled over.

The reason he was shot was not because he had a gun; it was because he was not following instructions while he was showing his gun.

So, in the officer's mind, he was not able to determine whether or not he was reaching for the gun, or his ID. And reaching for the ID would be harmless, but reaching for the gun might have been fatal to the officer. He had one, maybe two seconds to figure out what the guy was doing. Guess wrong, and your dead. In any case, it was Castile who was adding the danger to the situation.

Yes, it was what happened once he was stopped that did.

I noticed that too, but when watching the video and pausing it you can see the steering wheel is in front of him. I suspect the video is reversed. . .for whatever purpose, I can only speculate.

Or did he use ebonics and the officer never heard or understood him?

“I hate to repeat a post but would you stroll up to the window of a “Armed robbery” suspect vehicle and asked for ID and registration like it was just a simple taillight infraction?”

Don’t think he would “stroll up” to the vehicle, though we have not seen the entire video.

If he did the get-everybody out the the car and face-down on the pavement, imagine the ebonic-yelling occupants on video yelling about racist stops and the media and leftist screeching about police profiling where no other proof than a basic physical description is at play.

Easy to see the media, race-baiting morons and leftist cop-haters foaming at the mouth about racist police. . .that the police shouldn’t do a felony stop on every person that matches a description, and because they did a felony stop that means the police are racist goons.

A lot of twisting and turning here but the carriers permit is being used as a “state of mind” defense of the victim. He isn’t the kind of guy that would pull a gun on cop. Those kinds of guys don’t get licensed by the government. They don’t willingly get background checked.

It’s very likely this guy made the mistake of announcing he had a gun, thinking he was doing the officer a favor and it cost him his life.

No amount of traffic tickets is worth dying over and it’s obvious the guy wasn’t a huge piece of shit gang banger.

“isn’t the kind of guy that would pull a gun on cop. Those kinds of guys don’t get licensed by the government. They don’t willingly get background checked.”

That is a big piece of this inncident that has not been mentioned.

Philando held down a full time job for ten years.

Philando has no violence or property crimes on his record.

Philando did it the right way and applied for and received a gun permit

I’m not saying I would have hired Philando to manage my 401k or to remove my appendix, but there is no evidence he was a bad citizen.

The accusations that Philando was a “thug” and a felon are not based on objectivity and tainted with bias.

Timpanagos1 sums it up pretty well here. Those that keep saying it is good to have him off the streets have a real bias problem. This was a decent citizen, not great citizen, I don't know why he couldn't keep a drivers license.

The cop made a mistake. It is a mistake perhaps other cops would have made too. What I don't understand is why so many people think it was OK to kill him just because he had a gun. He had every right to have the gun. I want to say this again, he had every right to have his gun, even to have it concealed. I personally believe he was shot because a nervous cop saw the gun and wanted to make sure he was able to go home that night when he got off work so he neutralized the threat, except it wasn't a threat except in the mind of the cop.

Now was the dead guy a dead ringer for someone who held up a store? Probably not but he was black and so was the robber. He did not have on any of the same clothes, his hair did not match the description, oh, he did have a broad nose. Well most blacks do have a broad nose.

I am upset that this guy is dead. I carry and can see something like that happening to me. So far I have been careful enough to have my hands where the LEO can see them and I already have my papers out in sight before the LEO comes to the car. There is no requirement for me to have my hands in plain sight or my papers ready, I just am nervous about getting shot for having a gun.

No matter what happened here IT WAS A BAD SHOOT! The cop should not have shot and if he could have a do over I'm sure he wouldn't. We don't get do overs and this cop in that instant thought he needed to shoot, HE WAS WRONG. Stuff happens. In this situation the cop made a mistake that cost a man his life and a LEO his vocation. It is sad all around, trying to make the dead guy look bad won't fix it.

I hope all CCW permit holders have learned a lesson from this screw up. I hope all LEO’s who see this learn a lesson too. You see just because a lot of people are bad it is not an excuse to treat everybody as bad. Just because you see a lot of inner city black youth that need a good killin does not mean that every black person you see deserves to die and I see that over and over again in this thread.

I wish this had never happened, whatever the baby mama gets from the city will not bring her baby daddy back.

Nonsense, permit or no permit, you don’t reach when a cop tells you not to reach.

Besides, his illegal drug use invalidated any supposed permit.

Oh, and there’s that little thing about he looks EXACTLY like the armed robber from the store video, which they still have not ruled out being him.
