California police shot and killed about 1,130 people during the last decade, including 130 people killed in 2015, according to a Sacramento Bee review of California Department of Justice data.
In California, police officers killed someone, on average, about once every three days during the last decade. About four police officers, on average, were killed in homicides on the job each year over the same period.

Ok I'm not very good at math. Could someone explain this to me.
The police\ race relationship is a two way street. Would be interesting to see statistics on how different demographics respond to the police.
“Could someone explain this to me.”
Let me try. If a black criminal points a gun at a cop, and the cop shoots the black criminal with the gun, the cop is a racist.
Dallas has happened before people just forget:
OAKLAND, Calif. A day after four police officers were shot down in a rampage, the public and city officials struggled to understand how a routine traffic stop turned into one of the bloodiest days for police officers in California history.
If we had a motive, wed know why, said Jeff Thomason, a spokesman for the Oakland Police Department. And we want to know why.
Mr. Thomason had no additional details about the investigations into the shootings on Saturday, which ended with the deaths of three officers: Sgt. Mark Dunakin, 40; Sgt. Ervin Romans, 43; and Sgt. Daniel Sakai, 35.
A fourth officer who was wounded in the shootout, John Hege, 41, was declared brain dead just before noon on Sunday at Highland Hospital, Mr. Thomason said. Officer Hege was being kept on life support as a potential organ donor.
Police officials identified the man who shot the four officers as Lovelle Mixon, a 26-year-old parolee. He was fatally shot by other officers.

Yes Lovelle Mixon was a black man
The number to look at, which I have not found good data is, what is the racial breakdown of the people that kill cops.
Not criminal activity demographics vs shooting.
Usually those who tout an unfair ratio are the ones who cite that whites outnumber blacks 5:1, but fail, usually purposefully, to acknowledge that violent crime rates and thus violent encounters are higher among blacks.
Blacks are 24% of those arrested for murder but only 20% of those killed by cops. It looks like the police are going easy on black murderers.
Hispanics are 47% of those arrested for murder but only 43% of those killed by cops. It looks like the police are going easy on Hispanic murderers too.
Whites are 21% of those arrested for murder but 30% of those killed by cops. California's police are out to get white murderers!
Common Core math at work.
According to Heather MacDonald, author of the book The War on Cops, a cop is 18 times more likely to be shot by a black person than a black person is to be shot by a cop. Also, black and Hispanic cops are more likely to initiate the use of force than a white cop.
The Black Lives Matter movement is a scam built on lies.
Don't worry about it. More air for the rest of us.
Mixon got his..
