Ted Cruz to meet with secretive conservative group in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Ted Cruz is making an extra trip to Cleveland to address a closed-door meeting of influential conservative leaders this Friday ahead of the Republican National Convention, according to four people familiar with his plans.

Cruz will speak to a gathering of the Council for National Policy, a secretive group of conservative activists, many of whom backed the Texas senator in his failed presidential bid earlier this year.

The Council for National Policy is a nonprofit but some of its members, including CNP President Tony Perkins, who also serves as head of the Family Research Council, are part of a subgroup that had voted to endorse Cruz in hopes of uniting the conservative movement behind a single candidate in 2016, rather than splintering as it had in 2008 and 2012.

That bastard is going to try to commandeer the delegates at the Republican convention. He’s going to go rogue during his speech. I can feel it.

Perhaps a large, remotely-triggered trap door in the stage floor is the solution. Maybe throw in a "Gong Show" theme.

You make a great point. Cruz was a parrot time and time again.

Fredo was a shell.

I agree.

Teddy is just a nasty, out for himself POS. Something is being cooked up and they all best be careful, because there are many 10s of millions of trump supporters, who will NOT stand for any "games" these arseholes try to pull!

And thinking about primarying President trump, in 2020, is idiotic!

It is regrettable to believe that hall will be filled mostly with delegates of Cruz and of RINO’s.

This drivel about Cruz and the Platform is a smoke screen. His interest is in nothing but the RULES Committee. @$$#÷×!!!

Ever since last February when he pulled those shenanigans in Iowa, I have said that Cruz lacks judgement. He’s just another lawyer/politician who has never achieved personal success in life.

I keep praying that Lt Col Allen West will.

West is a knucklehead and a Rubio boy.

I know, trust me, I know.

If you really supported Trump you would not be campaigning against him on a daily basis here.

I have differences with Trump, as do most conservatives. Articulating them is not campaigning against him. But, on balance, there is more room for agreement than disagreement -- so, naturally, I'm supporting him.

If I'm "campaigning against" anybody, it is the Trump supporters who can brook no disagreement, no criticism of their Leader.

I don’t know just how much of this crap is believable. Yet even if SOME of it is true, we all need to go ballistic and DO something HORRIBLE to these people...as in unseating them, if they hold elected positions and getting them defunded, no matter who they are.
