CLEVELAND — Ted Cruz is making an extra trip to Cleveland to address a closed-door meeting of influential conservative leaders this Friday ahead of the Republican National Convention, according to four people familiar with his plans.
Cruz will speak to a gathering of the Council for National Policy, a secretive group of conservative activists, many of whom backed the Texas senator in his failed presidential bid earlier this year.
The Council for National Policy is a nonprofit but some of its members, including CNP President Tony Perkins, who also serves as head of the Family Research Council, are part of a subgroup that had voted to endorse Cruz in hopes of uniting the conservative movement behind a single candidate in 2016, rather than splintering as it had in 2008 and 2012.

I don’t know if Cruz will officially endorse Trump or not, but he’d be silly not to. Maybe this “secret meeting” will discuss the best way to handle the situation. Cruz is no dummy.
Considering the fact that he shall probably lose his re-election bid, he’ll finally have to get a REAL job and NOT be ready, in any way, to primary President trump!

The point of the meeting is unknown. The writer suggested Ted was angling for contact with this block of evangelical supporters, with an eye on 2020. Tony Perkins would not respond to calls.
It’s still anyone’s guess wth Cruz has in mind in this meeting with these hapless sycophants. It’s a scandal, in my opinion, as was Ryan’s disgusting televised Townhall tonight.
These two should not be allowed on stage. It’s quite had enough that some delegates may boo Trump, to have two guys campaigning for themselves.
It's the Cruz Cultists who are the ones making whinging noises here; though TRAITOR TEDDY has cuddled up with the GOPEers and has done so in the past, as well.
