I think you nailed this. There are many many “closet” Trump supporters in liberal states out there who are keeping their Trump support on the DL. (down low) I include myself. This is because we don’t want to set off the sneers and ridicule of the liberal family and friends and co workers in our circles so we refrain from mentioning that we support Trump.
However, we “closet” Trump voters are unwavering in our support, even though we are being circumspect about it. I, like you, think there are huge numbers of us.
These polls are not completely reflecting reality - similar to the Brexit phenomenon where the polls got it totally wrong.

Given the history of pre-election polling, one might well draw the conclusion that a Democrat lead that is admitted to be shrinking is most likely already shrunk well into deficit.
Perhaps you live in a red state. If we are fortunate enough to obtain a first term of President Trump, and he performs well with peace and prosperity, a second term could be a landslide of sorts. I find it delusional when people in this bubble write about a Trump landslide this year. He can win. I support him and pray for him to win so we all can win. The polls and demographics indicate, at best, a close victory. The swing states are key.

He is. Look at the internals. If they do likely voters and realistic D/R splits he’s ahead in almost every poll.

No, I live in a blue state, but let me tell you, Mr. Trump WILL win for the simple reason, that history like it or not, can and does repeat itself.
We are seeing 1968 all over again. Just take a look at this past week alone. That says something. People are getting fed up with the radical left and those who attack those who are simply are doing their jobs to keep the public peace and order.
Mr. Trump came out yesterday supporting proper law and order. That is a winning issue.
It will be interesting to see the next round of battleground polls .... if this is a trend, Trump should be pulling ahead in more than a few.

But you also have many Republican leaders attacking Trump (that is unexpected) - I was expecting it. The free trade and neocon chicken hawk contingent of the Republican party is a cancer.

After Mr. Trump’s speech yesterday and when he touch upon what has happened last week, and his declaration that he is the “law and order” frontrunner it has become a game changer. Folks want to live in peace and not have to be fearful about either their safety or the safety of their dear ones.
People that know me know I’m kind of a right wing fanatic so I don’t talk politics in public unless I’m with other members of the VRWC
