Gingrich, Warren Would Drive Most Enthusiasm as VP Picks, Poll Shows (Clinton 42 Trump 41)
Morning Consult ^ | 7/11/2016 | Cameron Easley

As presumptive presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump move closer to selecting their vice presidential candidates, a new Morning Consult poll shows voters are largely unmoved by the supposed contenders.

The national survey of more than 2,001 registered voters taken over the weekend shows just two potential picks generating at least some enthusiasm among Democrats and Republicans — former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton maintained her single point lead over Trump, 42 percent to 41 percent, with 18 percent of voters still undecided. Trump holds an advantage among independents with 38 percent, compared with Clinton’s 31 percent. Almost one-third of independents (32 percent) remain undecided.

Trump up 7 with Independents. What is interesting about these polls is that they usually test Gary Johnson as a candidate but rarely test Jill Stein. I still think that Hillary is in deep, deep trouble.

clinton won’t pick warren because she doesn’t want to get outshined; that’s rule #1 for any VP pick.

Gingrich and Warren is just name recognition. Pence sure as hell isn’t going to drive enthusiasm, at least not in the right direction.

[Newt would kill Warren in any debate.]

I’d love to see Flynn go against Warren.

Up 7 with one group and what in one poll? I raised this point in another thread....Trump is actually in serious trouble. Almost every major leading poll has him down. The very same polls we cheerleader that had him up in the primaries that we now bash or jump through hoops to discredit.

Trump should be up by 30 against Hillary and for him to be down with all the baggage around her neck should be of EXTREMELY serious concern to all of us

One of the interesting thing I have seen is people my sons age, 43, hate the way things are going. These are blue collars and they get nasty about it.

Please. We haven’t even had the convention yet. Why are you looking for defeat?

Given Clinton’s name recognition SHE should be up by 30. But your concern is noted.

I completely do not agree.

Trump basically has the entire washed up GOP establishment, opposing him still.

When he wins, he will solidify his support, big time. But for now, he does not have the main, washed up GOP establishment’s support.

They will come around. After the convention. Not before it is done, though.

No republican is ever going to be up 30 or 20 or even 10 points in a national poll ever again because of the changing demographics of this country. Simple as that. If Trump wins, it will be by 2 or 3 points & getting back the states of Florida & Ohio are critical in winning.

People dont understand especially the rhinos. This is it. It’s Trump or a republican will never be President again. We muist gut this elitist globalist party fast and he is the one to do it. It’s not conservatism vs liberalism anymore..its globalism and open borders vs law and order and a country that looks out foamr ericans first

I’m citing what the polls universally are stating and nothing more. I agree with most of your statements but the sad facts are almost all major polling groups report the same trend (Trump down). Now we can try to walk by and ignore them of look reality in the eye and push Trump and his team to the finish line by adopting better messaging.

Sorry but he should be smoking the hag.

Stop with the hyperbole. In no rationale universe will Trump ever be up by 30. Hillary is going to get 45% of the vote no matter what happens. She could eat small children and puppies and would still get 45%. Fact is, Hillary is in terrible terrible shape. The media have been non-stop attacking Trump and have all but sanitized every mis-deed that she has done and she is still only at 42% in an RV poll and leading him by 1. She’s up about 4 in the RCP averages. Stop being a chicken little and prepare for a fight. I’m assuming you were a Marine so lace em up and get in the fight.
