Police Officer Suffers Broken Spine After Protestor Threw A Concrete Block On His Head

Over the weekend, Black Lives Matter protestors shut down I-94 in St. Paul for about five hours to protest the death of Philando Castile, who was shot by a police officer. During the protest, 27 cops were injured after people threw molotov cocktails, fireworks, and rocks at the officers. One officer suffered a spinal fracture after a concrete block landed on his head.

One hundred and two people were arrested throughout the night.

Images of fireworks being thrown at police went viral as people expressed their disbelief.

Meanwhile, Castile's family disavowed the protestors, saying that was not how they wanted Philando to be remembered.

“On behalf of myself and our entire family, we urge all people to remain peaceful in all demonstrations throughout our community and our nation. When demonstrations become violent, it disrespects my son and his memory. Philando was a man of peace and dignity. Please, I ask you to at all times remain peaceful in your expressions of concern regarding his death at the hands of the police. I promise that we will not rest until justice prevails,” said Valerie Castile, mother of Philando Castile, in a statement Sunday.

I live in NYC and have taken drastic steps to protect me and my own. I know many are prepared.

But a concrete block thrown from behind at your head makes any means of self defense useless.

The solution is quite simple, actually. Police should keep protestors encircled by whatever means. Tell them that since these protestors have become a threat to police and they don't respect the authority and judgement of police, they'll have to set up their own security where they are. If anyone enters or leaves, it's through a specific location. Give a flier to anyone entering that it's a self-policing zone.

It NEVER should have happened that large groups were allowed to protest or march without a permit. When they blocked roads, intersections, and public access to things, that was totally out of hand. Does anyone have a clue why they weren't arrested when this BS first started?

Yesterday, before I knew any police were injured severely, I said: “Police should have video that zooms in on the faces of every single thug at these riots, so they can later identify the criminals who initiate violence. This was assault with a deadly weapon and battery. The violent rioters should be locked up for at least a decade each for their crimes.”

Whether they are good at aiming and actually cripple their targets, or bad at throwing and miss, anyone who threw an object capable of causing injury at the police belongs in prison for a long time. The one who actually hit this cop deserves at least 20 years behind bars, and I’d prefer life without parole for him.

Saw my first concrete block thrown by one of Obama’s sons from an overpass onto a car in front of me while on a freeway in Detroit. Early 1980’s. Just bounced off the trunk, but could have been deadly. Always check overpasses since then.
