EXCLUSIVE – Newt Gingrich: I Would Consider Being Trump’s Running Mate
Breitbart.com ^ | 9 July 2016 | Patrick Howley

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tells Breitbart News that he would consider being Republican candidate Donald Trump’s running mate in November’s general election. Asked if Trump has asked him to be running mate, Gingrich said, “No.”

Asked if he would consider being running mate, Gingrich said, “Yes.” But, “I think he has to make that decision.”

“It is the most extraordinary campaign of its time,” the former speaker added. “He’s come out of nowhere and defeated 16 other candidates.”

“If he catches fire he could be much like Reagan in 1980,” Gingrich said, noting that Trump could match those record numbers “if this thing continues to evolve and people learn how dishonest and unserious Hillary Clinton is.”

In conversation, Gingrich habitually rattles off ballot statistics for small nationalistic parties in other parts of the world, from Austria, where the election “is so close they’re going to have to re-run it because the establishment stole about 60,000 votes. The two parties that had run the country came in fourth and fifth,” to Rome, where Virginia Raggi won the mayoral election heading the populist Five Star Movement. To Great Britain.

“The British people heard from the establishment unanimously opposing it and the people just ignored them and rolled over it,” he said before he started talking about the election of a schoolteacher in Iceland.

That would be a bold play. Probably better placed as a top adviser or chief of staff as others have also stated.

NO!

Gingrich = Trump loses the general election.

Gingrich needs to fade away, permanently.

Time for new blood, not an establishment RINO.

Gingrich would consider it obviously but he has also made clear he doesn’t necessarily want it at this point in his life.

Alderman is really pushing Trump to pick this guy...the Neo-cons; globalists; CFR’s; TTP; TPA; and all the rest...

Don’t do it Mr. Trump, we know you know who and what baggage this guy has...one thing to be an ‘advisor’ another to shove this guy down our throats like people are trying to do...

General Michael Flynn is now my preferred VP, followed by Congressman Duncan D. Hunter of California (son of Duncan).

I think Gingrich has already been offered a job as chief of staff or a cabinet position in a Trump administration. I think Trump has Newt out there to distract the media while the real VP candidate is lying low until next week when the formal announcement is supposed to be made. I think it’s a good bet that Trump’s VP choice is none of the announced names put out there by his campaign.

The same Newt who did that commercial with Pelosi?

I know Gingrich has had some detractors here, but his lifetime achievements are nothing short of amazing.

He BALANCED THE FEDERAL BUDGET people!!!

Plus he is very plain-speaking, just like Trump, which is so damn refreshing.

I want Flynn. But Rand isn’t bad...don’t like his ‘amnesty’ thing, but he might get convinced by Trump he was wrong on that...he does know the workings of everything, and another evil thought:

Having Rand Paul sitting up there in the Senate and little old Cruz sitting down below...ho, ho, he, he....sorry just couldn’t help it....

Duncan Hunter Jr. was my pick too until a FReeper pointed out to me he’s got a bit of a scandal back home w/ campaign money. I couldn’t believe it and looked it up. I’ll post a link and see what you think.

Gingrich might make a better White House chief of staff.
