BRISTOL, Tenn. Friends and family of a black Army veteran accused of shooting at passing cars and police on a Tennessee highway are struggling to accept that he became violent in response to police killings of African-Americans.
One woman died and three others were wounded, including an officer, as police traded gunfire early Thursday with the suspect, identified as Lakeem Keon Scott, 37.

He was such a good man.
What is going on in our military’s? Too many are being radicalized to hate whitey. That didn’t used to be the result of military service
That didnt used to be the result of military service.....Been tis way since the ‘70’s. VN was one big race war. Riots in the PI, Taiwan, Okinawa....
Government agents perhaps
Had nothing to do with be a response to police killings of African Americans and everything to do what he did was simply wrong...he had a choice when he woke up that morning... Deal with anger and frustration in the correct/constructive way, or the incorrect/destructive way. He chose the latter. He made a very bad decision. He chose evil instead of good. Let's call it what it is and stop blaming the gun, PTSD, blacks being killed by white cops, etc.
Obama is what is going on with our military. People previously deemed unsuitable for military service are now being invited in. Gays, lunatics, black racists, and now he-shes are all welcomed in the name of “diversity”.
There is definitely a sickness in the United States these days that drives people to mass shootings.
I wonder if it has to do with the cultural shift and that the fact that people dwell on the bad things in their lives and then they are encouraged to look for someone or something to blame. This is encouraged my the media, politicians, etc. and it cannot be healthy.
Don’t get me wrong, some people have definitely been wronged and there should be justice for them. But it cannot be healthy feeling sorry for oneself 24/7 and being angry at everyone all of the time.
In decades past, if a person was wronged, that person was encouraged to seek help but then to move on. Now we (and certain groups of people) are encouraged to be perpetually angry.
Yes, I too have been mistreated in my lifetime but I don’t dwell on it because it will consume me. Actually, everyone can probably point to injustices in their lives.
Obama and the Democrats have encouraged these feelings of anger. Prior to the past 8 years, people coexisted with each other and the word racism was only used occasionally.
It is possible that this anger within the black community has always existed but then again maybe not. Many in the black community cheered when OJ was found innocent even though they knew that he was guilty. And then there as Rodney King.
A lot of people join thinking it will open doors to careers later in civilian life, but then have a hard time finding meaningful work (just like everyone else). For many it is simply an employer of last resort; that is why Otoken is pushing to allow any miscreant in - a massive workfare program. 80 years ago we would have called it the Civilian Conservation Corps...
Understood
I’m with you. This is a planned escalation of rioting in order to give Obama an excuse to declare martial law. Wait ‘til you see what they do at the Republican convention. Hopefully Trump has moles embedded with the anarchist.
“He was a quiet man.”
The bandshell and boardwalk in Daytona Beach was built by the CCC.
They’re always shocked. I’m sure he was a good, quiet boy.
I hike on a lot of trails they built; I’m not knocking them, just saying this what many recruits in the military today are signing up for - three hots & a cot and much better pay/benefits than the CCC ever got.
Bristol is home, or at least very near home.
My kids were at near by Cabelas yesterday
Glad all are safe Bert.....
Funny how Holocaust survivors did not behave like this. Blacks (or whites) doing it now are acting up in this way because they get rewarded for doing so. Society is fragmented, as is the family. In some ways the behavior of young blacks reminds me of 2nd generation muslim immigrants. Their lives are so much better than their parents’ lives were, but they are full of hatred. The government actively encourages & feeds resentment, and it started decades ago.
All of these excuses I keep hearing about “frustration” and “anger” make me sick. Folks have lost their minds.
“”Obama is what is going on with our military””
He’s also the reason that race relations are in the state they’re in today. I heard someone on TV last night - not a familiar face - that race relations in this country weren’t this bad 8 years ago. I flipped from channel to channel so I don’t recall whose program this person was on but it’s what had been running through my mind all day.
I’ve been waiting for someone to remind the audience that he started his time in the WH demeaning/demonizing a law enforcement officer by announcing that he “acted stupidly”...
No! It’s “you” who have acted “stupidly” from the get-go and continue to do so. All of this can be laid at his feet and no one else’s...except those who follow blindly this fool.
There is no doubt that all of his words/actions are on purpose and achieving the result he desires. No doubt about it in my mind.
IMO Johnny Cochran lit the fuse in the OJ trial and this bum poured gasoline on the simmering fire...
