Never applied for one according to the sheriff

The Star Tribune says he had one according to their source. I don’t know about their credibility either. Seems her would be hard for him to have a carry permit with an arrest record. Also, why would a cook need a carry permit?

” Also, why would a cook need a carry permit?”

Every non-bank robber should have a carry permit.

The Star Tribune says he had one according to their source.

Local TV station has reported the same.

I don’t know about their credibility either.

If the (Red) Star Tribune is reporting someone has a CCW permit, and not using it for "guilt by association", then it's almost certainly true.

Seems her would be hard for him to have a carry permit with an arrest record.

His "criminal" record is all traffic violations. None were disqualifying.

Also, why would a cook need a carry permit?

I'm retired. Why would I need one?

I got one long ago primarily to avoid getting arrested while transporting to and from the range. Now, I just keep it current because I want to.

That's the good thing about "shall issue". You don't have to show cause.

Looks like theST’s point of his having one from Robbinsdale is that is from another jurisdiction, which would be why the sheriff’s source would have made the distinction of his not having one that was issued by them?

A cook could "need" a carry permit for the same reason that any other American might request one: to make it more convenient to exercise his Unalienable Right to bear Arms for self-defense...

Why would a cook need a carry permit? Wow. If that is the litmus test at play then we really have a big problem, as that 'means test' can be applied to anything. Why does a civilian need an AR-15, why does someone whose life cannot be demonstrably be shown to be in danger need to own any firearm at all? Maybe legislation should be changed showing that the only firearm anyone can have, unless they can show why they need it, is a shotgun as Biden yapped about.

Apologies for focusing on that one issue, but it is something that the Right needs to be very careful about. We shouldn't use the talking points of the left, and the main 'soft' talking point they have is the 'why' argument. Why does someone need a repeating rifle? Why does anyone need a magazine that holds more than ten rounds? Why does anyone need more than one firearm? Why does anyone need to own a gun without it being licensed? Why does anyone need hollow point bullets? Why does anyone need a firearm without proving their need for it?

I am a licensed firearms holder in a country where you have to show a NEED (primarily either wealth, or danger), and I can tell you America does not want to have to show a 'need' for firearms. That is what happens around the world, and it is the greatest 'soft' talking point for the gun-grabbing left.

As long as someone does not have a felony crime record, they should be able to own a firearm - even if they are merely a lowly cook.

Your comment about why a cook needs a carry permit made me curious. What specific néed should someone have before getting a permit?

What you do for a living has zippo to do with a CCW license.

An arrest record would however definitely interfere with getting one.

Who the hell are you to determine just who NEEDS a permit? There is no NEEDS requirement in the 2nd amendment!
