Since Hennepin and no other county is being allowed to answer the CCW permit question, I call bs on your claim

It's not my claim. But, perhaps you'll believe the document provided by his family.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/philando-castiles-family-reveals-his-gun-permit/

Or, perhaps you will believe the instructor in the CCW class that Castille attended:

http://hosted2.ap.org/APDEFAULT/386c25518f464186bf7a2ac026580ce7/Article_2016-07-14-US--Police%20Shooting-Minnesota/id-b04a6afca4ee422f8d07c8f4c04a56c7

Look for the quote from Dan Wellman, of Total Defense.

At some point, you are going to have to accept that Castile was legally carrying the handgun, rather than discarding everything that doesn't fit your preconceived views.

You belong on a SJW website. I have rarely run into such an idiot feebly trying to masquerade as a conservative on FR. Using all the lingo and everything.

I've held a Concealed Handgun License for over 20 years. I've seen CHL/CCW holders maligned for all kinds of imagined offenses, but never on Free Republic -- where many members are CCW/CHL holders, just like me.

However, when I see a police officer shoot and kill a CHL holder simply because he didn't follow proper procedure during a traffic stop, I think everyone should stop and ask: "what can we do to prevent this from happening again"?

Instead, I see people like you straining to find a reason -- ANY REASON -- to blame the victim, when the guy wasn't doing anything except trying to comply with the officer's orders.

Many people have made the same mistake as you: jumping to conclusions based on inflammatory information that overlook the real facts. I've posted corrections, and I've been happy to see at least some of them acknowledge their error. Others are incorrigible.

If you don't like me, that's fine. I think you are an ass, and wouldn't want to even be in the same room with you. But, that's only because you have your hands over your ears and chanting "Nah, nah, nah... I can't hear you!" to avoid learning the uncomfortable truth.

WRONG! In South Carolina they are issued by the state. No sheriff involved at all! Not all states are the same. Get your facts straight before calling another FReeper out.

Or, you could both step back and realize that each state is different.

In my state, CHL's are issued by the state police (the same agency that issues driver licenses)

In MN, it is issued by the sheriff. In this case, Castile lived in Hennepin County before he moved to Ramsey County. His CCW permit was issued by the Hennepin County Sheriff:

“Dan Wellman, owner of Total Defense in Ramsey, confirmed the Castiles came to class in May 2015. Wellman doesn’t remember the pair. He said he wasn’t teaching the class that day.”

It just doesn’t get any better....

I don’t have to admit anything

OK, time for you to live up to the same demand as you have been making.

First: you don't have to have a valid driver's license to be issued a CCW in MN. If you believe otherwise, show me the MN statute that says that.

I don't want someone else's opinion: show me the actual MN statute.

You can start here:

https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/bca-divisions/administrative/pages/permit-to-carry-faq.aspx

And the law is here:

https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=624.714

If you don't want to bother, I can save you some time. You won't find it.

Apparently, you didn't bother to read the entire cite:

“Dan Wellman, owner of Total Defense in Ramsey, confirmed the Castiles came to class in May 2015. Wellman doesn’t remember the pair. He said he wasn’t teaching the class that day.”

So, are you claiming that the owner's business issued the Castiles fraudulent certificates of completion (which is required for a CCW application in MN)? And, that the owner doesn't have multiple instructors?

http://www.mntotaldefense.com/meet-the-team.html

Or, are you just refusing to admit the truth in front of your face?

I don’t have to admit anything

No, you don't. You can keep lying to yourself as long as you want. But, you shouldn't think that anyone else is believing you, if they bother to do even a little bit of research.

Read the letter he did indeed need to have either a valid drivers license, a state picture id(and you can’t drive a car with that which he was doing), or a passport.

It was your own source that said so.

No, what it says is that he must carry a government issued photo ID. A suspended driver's license is still a valid photo ID. He would also have had a school-issued picture ID, as he worked for the St. Paul public school system.

But again, I'm going to make you live up to your same standard of proof, which I've been meeting over and over again..... while you get by with innuendo.

Castile did have a suspended license in the past, and he was convicted of driving without a license multiple times. He apparently got caught on the treadmill: he would get cited for something small, couldn't pay the fine and had his license suspended. Then, he would get cited for driving while it was suspended.

An aside: this is also playing out in California, after they raised traffic fines to unreasonable levels, in an attempt to raise revenue. People can't pay the fine, they lose their license, and then they can't get to their job. So, they collect unemployment/welfare. It's a vicious cycle.

But, Castile paid all of his fines and his license was reinstated in January:

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/07/15/485835272/the-driving-life-and-death-of-philando-castile

You really should check out your "facts" before posting. It makes you look like a fool.
