Companies are fleeing the USA because we are allowed to trade with polluting slave states. Of course it’s cheaper to get labor in a country with no laws on worker rights, safety or pollution.
Even if business owners are morally opposed to doing business with slave states, their competition is allowed to. Eventually that competition puts all the companies with morals of business.
I would propose instead of tariffs a complete outlawing of trade with countries that don’t meet all American standards.
Our vast manufacturing power was the Arsenal of Democracy during WWII. Our political and financial leaders have pissed that strength away.

The way I look at it, we have a budget crisis. Not enough money for paying towards our debt. Of course spending is out of control, far beyond what is paid towards the debt. Putting a large tariff against imports will force consumers to pay towards reducing our debt. It will be painful for consumers, and it will indeed be a while before companies can make products here to compete against the foreign products. But at least this is a start towards making stuff here in the USA. The main problem will be keeping Democrats hands off the incoming money, as they'll see it as a windfall and waste it on pork. Hopefully a President Trump will be able to destroy the Democrats power to interfere with his plan to restore America to greatness. Regardless, lots of pain ahead for consumers, with or without action.
I agree...we need to get are manufacturing base back....a manufacturing job actually creates more then one job because of all the support jobs that go with it. the fact that companies can go to china. Vietnam and other third world countries to manufacture makes it hard to compete. besides paying extremely low wages these countries manipulate there currency and put there own tariffs on goods...I say if there is a significant trade imbalance high tariff if not low or no tariff. watch how fast china changes its trade practices when it realizes that because of there trade imbalance there manufactures are having to pay a tax on goods entering the United States.

Trump has said many times that he is in favor of free trade. But if there is a trade imbalance it would be foolish to do nothing and just send money overseas.

Foreign Nations have figured out how to use things like Currency manipulation to move their Products into our Marketplace and decimate any competition.
Our Government supports that strategy by punishing Businesses with outrageous Regulations and punishing Taxes.
They are as much to blame as the Countries benefiting from our lopsided Trade Imbalance.

Like there is a difference between Dems and Repubs. Frankly, I am surprised unions have not taken a greater hold in services companies like IT given how many of us have to train our H1B replacements.
I love Trump and believe he wants the best for America but he’s off on this one. One reason may very well be what you are talking about - his success in the business world which of course in the market economy.
Trump will, sooner or later, realize that unlike his successful business in which he grew and employed many, his job in government is just the opposite. Government doesn’t create jobs it kills jobs. Trump’s job in the government is to drastically SHRINK the size of government and get government out of the market economy so the free market can do what it does best - create wealth and opportunity.
Whoever is obtaining the video and setting up these cameras should be fired immediately. I get better audio from a cheap Chinese AM radio with a broken antenna. The echo made it all but impossible to listen to. These types of audio issues were solved in the 1940s.
Then the media jack balls set the cameras up so low, anyone holding a sign, completely blocks the speaker.

What evidence do you have that Trump hasn't always believed this? I seem to recall him pointing out that the various politicians who have opposed or are opposing him have never created a single job.

Doesn’t matter anyway. Hillary won’t change any Trade Deals when she’s Elected POTUS.
Those jobs will never come back, period. The US cannot compete with foreign labor backed by communist regimes. Tariffs will do no good other than adding another layer of tax on all of the stuff we import now, not to mention that that we import WAY more stuff from china than people would like to believe.
As far as price advantage on imported goods, all of you free traitors are full of shit up to your eyeballs. The price of imports is actually going up, while the quality is going into the toilet. I’m talking about durable goods, something that the free traitors don’t want to talk about.

Small community banks (with investment services like big banks forbidden) and small businesses and small family farms and regulations that put the brakes on the big corporations would be a big step toward economic health.
