If what the original high minded people who set forth the idea of “hate crime” had been continued to be observed, yes that would count as such.

Canada has piled ludicrous on ludicrous... I’m not sure even the US is quite that zany yet, but it is approaching if it isn’t there.

There’s a curious song “If I Were A Redneck” by a certain Canadian punk band. It depicts rednecks getting into all manner of ungodly mischief, but I at least get the sense that the composer was secretly jealous. That they could like their ungodly mischief even better than the composer does his, because there is almost a kind of innocence about it.

Ironic: Punk rock was originally a cry of the white working class against the crushing poverty and lack of opportunity foisted upon them by the white ruling class.
