Why couldn’t Washington D.C. get the Olympics?

Maybe the place would get destroyed.

That’s pretty much how Rio always is.

A Rio haiku:

Brown thing in water
That's not a candy bar
There, I said it: poop!

I was in Rio a long time ago. It seems that nothing has changed!!!!

When I was in Rio, it was for work, and I was the project head. We had good Brazilian team members, who kept us out of trouble. We also had good advice, which kept our passports safe, kept us out of the hands of bandits and kidnappers, and minimized the effects of the inevitable dysentery.

So our trip to Brazil turned into a wonderful adventure!

2016 tourists going to Rio without our advantages may not have such a great experience. You can at least use the Internet to get some good advice. Forewarned is forearmed!!!!

I attended a professional conference last week and sat in on a session by a travel medicine specialist. She preps people for travel to all sorts of hell holes.

When is comes to Rio she is discouraging her patients from going during the Olympics.

1. Civil unrest
2. Zika
3. Lack of infrastructure
4. Inadequate public health measures (sewers, potable water)

I have a relative that had a very good chance of medaling in the woman’s discus (currantly has the US record) she injured herself training and has decided not to compete this time. She doesn’t seem that upset about it. I wonder if the athletes have decided this one is going to be a farce.

Can we at least wait until the Puerto Rico check clears the bank before writing one to Rio.

This can’t be. We are constantly told how places like Brazil are multicultural nirvanas.

“Welcome to Hell”

Violent crime: check.
Polluted water: check.
Close enough.

But the water doesn't flow
It boils with every poison you can think of."

"Rio de Janeiro police officers are warning tourists that they’re on their own this summer as the Brazilian city struggles to cope with rising violent crime ..."

Quite telling about the sort of people who inhabit Rio.
Why people have thought of Rio as a great place
to visit or vacation is beyond my understanding.
It's dangerous and filthy.
To be honest; I've never been there and have no plans
of ever visiting the place.
