Donald Trump's Dream Veep Is Newt Gingrich
Time ^ | July 5, 2016 | David Lane

Posted on 07/06/2016 7:31:46 AM PDT by newgeezer

The former House Speaker brings experience and still terrifies Democrats

Even nearly 20 years since he departed Congress, Newt Gingrich is still the most feared Republican in America. ...

The current Republican leadership is an unimpressive lot. They seem to be placeholders waiting for principled leaders like the former Speaker of the House to emerge. President Obama's hijacking of the constitutional power of the legislative branch—without cost or pain—would never have happened under a Gingrich-led Congress. ...

Republicans across the spectrum agree that Newt would be Donald Trump's best asset on the campaign trail this fall and a seasoned point-man in a Trump administration. ...

The former Speaker, one of the most innovative and formidable politicians in America, is a Churchillian figure. That kind of selection by Mr. Trump would, first, telegraph the caliber of people that he plans to bring to his administration; second, lend insight into the sort of selection he plans to make for Supreme Court Justices and third, show the type that Trump would elevate in military leadership. ...

And yes, Newt is not perfect. But, as former Texas Governor Rick Perry said of Newt and perfection in his concession speech for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, "who among us is?" Perry is right; he echoes John 8:7: "The one sinless among you, let him cast the first stone."

In March of 2007 Newt admitted to adultery in an interview with Dr. James Dobson, during a Focus on the Family broadcast. "I've gotten on my knees and sought God's forgiveness," he said. ... ...

Since one of the premier responsibilities of the VP is to campaign for the party and to take down the opponent, Newt's political skill and historical insight would be a nightmare for Hillary Clinton.

...

I'm pulling for Newt.

Says Time magazine. I wish Newt was younger.

Newt already said he would by VP...as long as it was an active role. My take is that Newt would advise and work with the Chief of Staff.

Against Hillary, age, marital history is off the table.

VP has very little power. I would not be too concerned. The probability of Trump dying in office is extremely low.

some of his ideas are genius, and some of his ideas are moronic

True. Gingrich is a policy wonk, and Trump goes about 90%+ on raw instinct and that which suits Trump. He does love his country and does not have contempt for traditional morality which is a big improvement over what we have had.

True ... so if Newt Gingrich seems old to me, imagine how he seems to his wife! (Just kidding, a quick Google search shows that she’s a few months older than I am.)

What I meant was, just imagine how old he’s going to seem to the voters Donald Trump needs to turn if he’s going defeat Hillary. He’ll seem like that really annoying high school teacher who talked on and on and used really big words, and then it was ALL on the test.

Newt would not be making policy...only working the Presidents policies through the Halls of Congress.

Proof that David needs to stick to religion because he is being led by Globalist.

Newt is a Globalist. Trump will not, repeat will not select a Globalist as a VP. Time magazine and the rest of the Leftist hope Trump picks Gingrich because they have plenty of crap on Gingrich.

Please learn what a Globalist is first before posting nonsense like this.

Valid points, and no one really accuses Newt of being low-energy. I'm okay with a Gingrich VP selection, though how many of us want Paul Ryan to be two (combined) 150+ years worth of heart beats (in 2020) away from the ppresidency?

Time magazine is also VERY IRRELEVANT in the information age.

They do not have the leverage they once did when they were more centered. Today ot’s just nostalgic Leftist Globalist trash.

I think Paul Ryan will disappear sooner rather than later.

Lol! Are you kidding?

1988 is about 30 years that way.

No one gives a fig about that stuff these days.

Count me as unconvinced. Newt has plenty of baggage to exploit come political ad season.

David Lane is not the establishment. Far from it.

David Lane is a member of the CFR: http://www.cfr.org/about/membership/roster.html?letter=L It doesn't get much more establishement than that. Anyway, Time doesn't print it unless the establishent okays it.

Don’t load up your administration with NWO CFR types.

Newtie is both as they go together like Hillary and Huma.

The story about Gingrich serving divorce papers to his dying wife in the hospital got traction only four years ago. A lot of people who aren't policy wonks weigh this stuff more as a reflection of character in some demographics.

Agree. Chief of Staff would be better.

Newt has many ex wives, does nothing to help narrow the gender gap.

TIME wants Newt. Links Trump to the past and Republican s status quo.

Sadly we are in the age of identity politics. Trump needs a woman and/or Latino as his VP.

Dead serious. I am surrounded by Mexican Americans from a 130 year family history of the same.

Mexican Americans, perhaps more than any other ethnic group, are justly proud of and defensive about their heritage. They have a lot to teach Anglo/etc. Americans.
