California must offer more to reach electric vehicle goals
Sacramento Bee ^ | July 4, 2016 | John Bozzella

Californians who want to drive a zero-emission vehicle have never had it better. Consumers have more choices from more manufacturers than ever before. They can choose battery power, a plug-in hybrid or a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. ZEVs come in all sizes and cost less than $30,000 or more than $100,000.

But of the more than 2 million new vehicles that will be registered in California this year, less than 3 percent will be ZEVs. We need to fill that gap between hope and reality.

California and other states must increase vehicle rebates and tax credits

So we must transfer the taxes from some poor working stiff and give them to some rich bastard so he can get a bigger subsidy on his $100,000 Tesla.

Zero emissions, right.

Their emmissions are at the power plants that charge them up.

Including, depending on the plant, things like chopped up eagles.

Every perceived problem to the left can be remedied by wealth redistribution and confiscation.

The spirit of potemkin villages. Nothing substantial there, but oh what a show on paper.

They are socialists. They will do what all socialists do in an energy rich environment. Run out of electricity, just look at Venezuela.

That’s not true. Electricity comes from the wall, and there are no emissions from there either.

Every problem must be due to you and I having too much money and too much freedom. I know this because every solution proposed by Lieberals consists of taking more of my money and more of my freedom.

"We need to fill that gap" -- say the liberal know-it-all busy-bodies who know how we should live our lives better than we do.

Hey SacBee, heres a cold hard reality check from just three days ago:

9 reasons trucks and SUVs helped drive June auto sales

Low gas prices, depressed interest rates and a bevy of incentives kept afloat trucks and SUV sales for several auto makers in June.

That is why we had to get rid of those horrible nuclear power plants. Everyone knew the electricity that came from them was radioactive............ /s

The insanity caused by the chronic, no-cure, mental disease, known as liberalism, raises it’s ugly head every single day.

Good gravy but there’s some industrial-grade stupid going on in California. I fear for the normal people when it all collapses.

Exactly. That's exactly how electric car subsidies and most environmentalism work. It's getting harder and harder to resist buying a Tesla, given all of the incentives - financed by the taxes of people who can't afford to buy Teslas.

I’m not sure California still offers incentives.

They were offering $1,000 or so if you bought a hybrid or electric vehicle.

California government seems to be disenchanted with the vehicles. My hybrid was just eliminated from the no-smog check each year, and now I’m having to have it checked for the first time since I bought it in 2006.

Good luck what that 15% goal. Never gonna happen.

Diable Canyon is closing, the last nuclear plant in California.

Just got a note from my power supplier stating that we’re like, to have brown outs this year.

The reason they gave was the natural gas well closure at Porter Ranch. They burn natural gas for some of our power.

I’ll get the loss of nuclear is involved in all this. They are just shifting things around to make it look like dropping them wasn’t factor here.

If cell phones are suppose to be bad for you, research EMF waves from hybrids and high voltage engines. A lot of the generators, high voltage cables run right under the drivers reproductive organs, and adjacent the back seat where people put their kids. I guess liberals who buy these thongs have no problem exposing their kids (if they have any) to super high dosages of EMF waves.

Just let a few more million illegals in and provide them a new electric car. So simple a leftist moron can do it.
