In the birther movement, Mr. Trump recognized an opportunity to connect with the electorate over an issue many considered taboo: the discomfort, in some quarters of American society, with the election of the nations first black president. He harnessed it for political gain, beginning his connection with the largely white Republican base that, in his 2016 campaign, helped clinch his partys nomination.
The more Mr. Trump questioned the legitimacy of Mr. Obamas presidency, the better he performed in the early polls of the 2012 Republican field, springing from fifth place to a virtual tie for first.
That frenzied period culminated six weeks after it began in a surreal televised split screen between Mr. Trump and the White House briefing room, where aides released an image of the presidents birth certificate proving he was born in Honolulu and Mr. Obama directly addressed the issue.
It was a remarkable moment that Mr. Trump celebrated as a political victory.
Then Mr. Trump did something decidedly un-Trump-like: He dropped the issue and rarely spoke of it publicly again.
According to people apprised of the conversations, people close to him had been worried about the negative attention. Officials at NBC had also been concerned that he was alienating the large black audience of his hit show, The Apprentice.
But for all of his fascination with the presidents birth certificate, Mr. Trump apparently never dispatched investigators or made much of an effort to find the documents.
Dr. Alvin Onaka, the Hawaii state registrar who handled queries about Mr. Obama, said recently through a spokeswoman that he had no evidence or recollection of Mr. Trump or any of his representatives ever requesting the records from the Hawaii State Department of Health.

BOL! I’ve read he’s a very average-at-best basketball player, and that he’s even less talented on the links. Truly, the only real skill he’s ever demonstrated is the ability to play the race card.
Btw, Seize, thanks for the ping! Much appreciated as always.
Hate to say it but that's a common pronunciation inside the MD community.

Coincidence is not causation. Maybe they liked the rest of what he was saying about our economy. He has been saying it publicly since the 1980s.
You are welcome! More MSM desperation showing that Trump will resume going after precious Barry as proved by his continuing association with Sheriff Arpaio...a fact missing from this article.
Yes, no mention of the numerous falsehoods in Barry’s bio that even the most friendly biographers have uncovered, of course mostly AFTER Barry was safely elected and re-elected.
IMO, Trump, if elected POTUS will have to somehow gain access to the HI BC archive where Barry’s original is allegedly stored in a bound volume.
IANAL, but IIRC, States have exclusive rights over original BC’s in our federal system and this won’t be easy! Exposing corruption of HI state officials in placing Barry in the presidency would be the biggest scandal in US history and HI would use every legal tool going up to SCOTUS to resist Trump in coming into their archive!
On the other hand, a well-articulated rebuttal can be read by a wide audience and be saved for posterity in the paper of record! You can become virtually “immortal” (they save this stuff “forever”) and in your own little way by getting a great comment published in the NYT!
Here’s hoping! He must have an asterisk on his presidency!
When Onaka swore that Barry’s BC was genuine, IANAL, but IIRC, the electoral college had to honor Hawaii’s claim that Barry’s BC was legitimate under the “full faith and credit” clause of the constitution.
Without Boehner agreeing to hold hearings contesting the forgery of Barry’s BC on its face (provoking a constitutional crisis) no progress could be hoped for. Boehner would have to subpoena the original and Hawaii would certainly deny access to it all the way up to SCOTUS, IMO.
I am likely not explaining it well.
In Photoshop, I cut out the words “6085 Kalanianole Highway” from the supplied document, and pasted it under the words “Gynecological Hospital”.
Since it is copied and pasted from the same document, there is no resizing necessary to compare the text, and all letters should line up perfectly.
I used the letter “a” to line up, since it is the same character above and below.
Going from right to left, the “l” should be exactly under the “y”, the “a” should line up exactly, the “t” should be directly under the “w”, and so on.
But as you go right to left, the characters are increasingly out of alignment,.
This indicates they were typed on two separate typewriters at best, and at worst, indicates a forgery.
Lol, I have been in health care for several decades, and have only heard it pronounced “oh-bee-gee-why-enn”, and never the other way, but...it is possible in some circles they do!
Thank you but there no type writers involved. The image on the WH.gov was a cut and paste from other images on the web. That is why some letters show up one layer and others show up on other layers. But yes the copies of the letters from different images that are copies of original documents from multiple origins.
This is obvious, and makes all their gobbledy-gook about creating layers automatically when scanning, etc. irrelevant.
Hey, Hillary was a “birther” before Trump. Right Mr. Greenberg?

I hope you are correct. I would love to see the lid lifted on this, as well as far more serious, corruption.
I’d say #1 issue to tackle is voter fraud. Though there are so many other things in contention.
You just forget there was a “meeting” at SCOTUS on January 14th, 2009, ONE week before, with John Roberts and Co. by Chicago-Godfather-Thugs-likes. That day EVERYTHING changed in the U.S., Lower courts, LEOs, CONgress, Military, Medias and others. Everything was silenced into submission by intimidation and the CONSTITUTION was nullified. Scalia recently just removed and nobody lifted a finger. Now you have the klintonistas waiting in the corridors to make follow-ups !!!
I don’t think that racism had anything to do with the birther movement. I think it was just a political attack. And, of course, there were some folks who made some money from the books, videos and contributions. But, I think that the racism charge is unwarranted.
