CNN makes it sound like this is a new thing because Trump can’t fill speaking slots.
It has been rumored FOR MONTHS that a Trump convention would be different and would not rely on the glorified old politicians to fill the speaking slots. Instead, Trump would likely go outside to make the convention more of an entertainment event — by have sports and entertainment figures in speaking slots.
CNN’s spin is a bit late to the party.
