Denver (CNN)Donald Trump is turning to his family, sports figures and business leaders to fill speaking slots at the Republican National Convention later this month as scores of prominent Republican leaders continue to refuse to line up behind their controversial nominee-to-be.
Trump announced Friday that his wife and children "are all going to be speaking" at the nominating convention that kicks off in just over two weeks. And the real estate mogul has also promised to add sports figures and other non-politicians who are supporting him to the roster of convention speakers, which would set the 2016 convention apart from past conventions packed with current and former elected officials.
The unconventional programming, which Trump has said will include a "winners' night," comes as his campaign and the Republican National Committee are facing an unusual problem unseen in past conventions: a lack of interest in speaking slots from many party elders and rising stars.

That would be great, plus Trump needs to neutralize or remove Paul Ryan from the convention speakership. Ryan can do a lot of damage from the podium.
What about Diamond and Silk? They should be given a prime-time slot to address African-American voters. And after the convention they should have regularly scheduled rallies on Trump’s behalf in cities like Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and other places where blacks have been completely shafted by their Democrat plantation overseers.
The GOP Convention might actually be FUN again..instead of seeing RINOS go on TV and spew about how we need to have amnesty for illegals and open our country to rapeugees, we will have people who actually CARE about America speaking..and I hope that Ted Cruz speaks too, its time to UNIFY the party or else Hitlary Clinton will destroy whats left of our great country

Other than the very first Convention televised, this one will be the ONE/WON to remember for years to come. With the elimination of the typical political ‘figures’, Mr. Trump has an opportunity to show the public a uniquely different side of the political game and how it is played. He thinks outside the box and the stiffs on stage will be found to have limbered up a bit in the upcoming presentation.
Might he create even more jobs by hiring on a contract basis, the director (person in charge) of the entertainment seen in his vast assorted individual hotels around the world? And what would that particular person feel compelled to do to offer an enjoyable program for all America? No doubt it will be first class and ‘something completely different’ Actually, really look for to this year’s event.
