Is there a Moterhead ping list?
So, the Soup owns one of those baaaad TDi's that the EPA want off the road.
The choice is for the Soup to give it back, pay off TDI loan and have about 11K to buy another vehicle.
Or wait until they announce a fix within 2 years have it fixed and walk away with 5100 probably taxable dollars.
The TDI gets 50 to the gallon and is in good shape, 2013 golf standard transmission.
Another factor is it has the famous Tadaka Airbag.
I like the diesel and I like the power and mileage.
The mileage will be killed by the EPA.
Ethanol is going to 15%
Nothing out there looks good.
So tired of cars that are nothing but electronics surrounded by upholstery.
Sounds odd, but I would like a manly car. but small and affordable.
Help!

I would just keep driving it and NEVER let VW “fix” it when they offer.
Keep it as is and happily drive it until it drops.
You can’t just keep it and keep driving it? Are they really going to make you give up the car altogether? My apologies, but I haven’t been following this issue all that closely.
Red has a diesel ping list.
I have to have it fixed or bought back. No other option.
If I owned one in place wbere they don’t test them, I would keep it.
Hmmmm, and the state will still allow it to pass “inspection”?
I’m keeping my TDI.
Thanks!
Happy Fourth to you and yours!
Life is good here. Hope all is well!
If the fix is a software fix I understand that can be un-fixed. But if they are able to install a urea system it is a terrible option from what I have read.
Happy Fourth to you and yours as well, everything’s OK.
I am not sure how the state will handle. In my county there is tailpipe testing. In my son’s county there is not.
Keep it, it sounds like it could be a collectible worth good money some day.

Since you can’t decide for yourself, there will be no “manly” to it.
Do you know what your state will do around testing? In CA, the originator of these demon-EPA rules, they are not allowed to pass inspections needed for re-registration.
We don’t have testing in Ohio.
You can drive your 1963 ford pickup if you want.
Since you cant decide for yourself, there will be no manly to it.
