One of the more disturbing parts of this report is that the crew failed to present a hard target. Which means they didn’t even present arms or bring those 50 cals or 40 mic mics or whatever up to position. Its mind boggling.

Our generation had better save this nation because the millennials are just not prepared to do it.

Only official bit I found was on DOD site. And that was merely the announcement of CNO
briefing today.

“Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson briefs the media at 9:45 a.m. EDT in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973) to provide results of the investigation into the seizure of two riverine boats and the detention of 10 U.S. Navy personnel by Iranian forces....”

Hard to believe no other news agency has picked up on this. Sure grabbed the headlines when the event occurred.

Pending published release of the investigative report, AP notes that local command authority apparently did not release aircraft to locate the riverine patrol boats after comms. were lost. In a hot zone one would think that it would be SOP to do so as well as alerting other USN assets in area. There have been enough annoyance approaches to remain on alert for the one active threat possibility.

Supposedly they lacked “warfighting toughness” and were "unprepared" but they don't look that way in the live fire drills posted before the debacle by DoD in order to show how tough and prepared they were.

So are the videos misleading propaganda, and the gunboats really are just paper tigers, or are we seeing more disinformation now? Given the history of this administration putting out false information it is hard to know.

If the Navy training is so poor that it really is possible to capture two US Navy gunboats with a couple of speedboats, then we could expect that a US Coast Guard cutter would surrender to a medium sized fishing boat. Funny, that hasn't ever happened, has it.

Videos showing the boats in training, and an interview with a crew member after training (who might be one of those captured).

Live Fire and more training

Coastal Riverine Force "Cape Fear Final Skills Assessment" - Interview

Published reports suggest they only have 6 of the gunboats in the area, so some of the crew involved in the debacle may also be in these videos.

Congress sets the rules and regulations of the military. That is not up to the PResident. Standards are on Congress.

Nominally, yes. (Hard to tell who is doing what when Congress acts as the President’s rubber stamp.)

The President still appoints the generals and admirals.

A fighting force of pansies, that’s what we have now.

What ever happened to real men?

Can you imagine what will happen when Iran captures a boat load of our, new, fabulous, sailors?

Not to worry, the new openly transgender Navy will be prepared, they’ll bring their parasols -the sun is brutal on the Gulf of Hormuz.

Yes you make a good point. The whole thing is suspect. Even I don’t think the Navy has in 7 short years become Camp Runamuck. There is no way they are that incompetent and unprepared. This was something else.

If there is any branch of service that is technologically light-years ahead of everyone else it’s the U.S. Navy.

No offense, but you have to be really stupid to think that technology is evenly distributed when a substantial chunk of the fleet still in use was built in WW2.

Not to mention we have Russian bombers and subs off our coasts all the time.
I have no interest in being “fair” to regimes that execute rape victims, queers and Christians, blow up Jewish centers in Argentina, and put out hit requests on dissident authors and send scouts out to case NY City tunnels and bridges.
