I like and respect George Will, and over the years I've been one of his fans. With the rise of Donald Trump, Will has decided to resign from the GOP, along with Mitt Romney and the other folks we might call "decorative conservatives" -- the people who look good on the outside, but who have none of the fire in the belly that marked Teddy Roosevelt or Lincoln -- not to mention the Founders, who were pretty robust and argumentative.
I believe Mr. Will has a genuine distaste for what may become Trump Conservatism. Trump represents a kind of happy warrior style of American politician, similar to Harry Truman and Rough Rider Teddy Roosevelt. It's obviously too low-class for Will, Romney and Jeb Bush, who are all too delicate for the political blood sport that the Left has imposed on our politics. Nothing is too low for the Left. Literally nothing.
The national GOP has been in decline for years, running decrepit candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain, and Mitt Romney -- who actually did flinch in the last debate with Obama, as Trump points out. Candidates like Dole and McCain were picked for their seniority, which is what made them weak and doddering candidates.

Will and Bush and other NeverTrumper’s main problem with Trump is his promise to stop illegal immigration and build a wall. But that’s one of the most attractive positions for your avg man on the street. That position is winning over people from both sides of the isle... Because it’s a winning issue that is LONG overdue.
Will is an open borders globalist who loves the cheap labor express. He’s not conservative, he’s a Neocon. I’m happy to slam the door on his stupid ass.

I wrote Will off in the late 1990s when, on being asked why he never had anything to say about the Clinton Whitewater scandals, said he wasn’t interested in that sort of thing and walked away.
I honestly believe the word conservative has lost all relevance.
It started with the George Romney crooks in the 60s.

George may not yet realize it, but tearing up his Conservative Republican membership card will reduce his value on the Sunday Talk Shows. Those leftie hosts will have to find some other mushy Rino to replace him, so they can keep pretending to have both sides represented.
This is probably one reason why John McCain has not yet switched over. However, if John McCain loses his upcoming election, and loses big, don’t be surprised if, as a parting shot before retirement, he does switch to Libertarian. He’ll say “This is not the Republican Party I remember joining, some 37 years ago!”

Reports indicate that George Will left his wife for Lally Weymouth, a Washington Post biggie and daughter of the lunatic left Post’s owner, Katherine Graham, and moved out of his house down the street to another house where he could entertain his Post paramour. Reports also indicated that when he left, Mrs. Will put his furniture out on the street with a sign saying “Take it somewhere else, Buster”. I think that is how the Party base needs to respond to this starched phony, “Take it elsewhere, Buster”.

Yeah, I used to like hearing this pinhead ramble on about baseball, but now that he’s out of the Hillary closet, he can go to Hell. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
George Will and his ilk have shown me that he is a lover of the corrupt status quo. He probably thinks he is being the most true “conservative” because “conservative” basically means keeping things as they are - preserving the status quo. But we are learning that in American institutions like government or the media, keeping the long term (more than eight-ten years) status quo of incumbents breeds corruption (priorities of self-perpetuation and enrichment over those for whom your institution was meant to serve).
That is why I increasingly dislike the term “conservative.” In the sense of its meaning above, it is part of the problem. America needs LOVERS OF POLITICAL LIBERTY who want to reinstate the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land and limited government, not “conservatives”.
Love that phrase: Decorative Conservatives.
The problem with McCain and Romney were that they were hand-picked to “run” by the psychopathic sodomites who control all the elections and candidates to give the illusion of “Free Elections”. It is part of the Dialectical Materialism (Marxism) that has been controlling all facets of “education” and institutions since 1930 or so.
Elections have been rigged since before Kennedy. In fact, Teddy Roosevelt’s last fun for Pres. as a “Progressive” was orchistrated by JP Morgan and his right hand man. who orchestrated Roosevelts “run” (without Teddy knowing)-—that actually split the vote to put their hand—picked evil hatchet man, Wilson, into the White House to literally destroy the Constitution, the Courts (legal system), and our banking system. (Who ever controls the money, controls ALL the politicians and justices-—but a few odd ducts (hopefully) like Reagan, Scalia, Thomas and Trump who are Alpha males with some economic wisdom (don’t like to be “group-thinkers” and told what to do).
