Pepsi To Bring Back Aspartame-Sweetened Diet Pepsi By September
Consumerist ^ | June 27, 2016

Weeks after it was rumored that continued falling sales would propel PepsiCo to once again change the sweetener used in its main calorie-free beverage, Diet Pepsi, back to aspartame, the company announced plans to do just that Monday. PepsiCo said Monday that it would reintroduce aspartame-sweetened Diet Pepsi in September, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Despite reintroducing the aspartame-sweetened beverage, PepsiCo says it will continue to sell a version sweetened with a blend of sucralose (Splenda) and acesulfame potassium (branded as “Ace K”) that began to appear on shelves last summer.

Same here.

Back in the 90’s when McDonalds had Coke floats in glass mugs one of the jerks decided to change it to diet Coke. I was only in my early teens but I gave him an ear full about there are people that can not tolerate the aspartame and it is not funny. Got my money back plus a free one and coupons for later. The jerk got chewed out by the manager.

The gum I used to chew changed to it and I got so sick just a few minutes after I put the first piece in my mouth. It was NOT a sugar free gum. Some time in the 2 weeks between purchases they changed out the stock.

I get similar reactions to Dr. Pepper. One or more of those 23 secret ingredients doesn’t play nice with my body. Found that out when my Coke Icee at K-mart wasn’t the Coke I ordered. Got so sick and wasn’t able to eat my sub. Our mom always got us an Icee and a sub at their old deli type counter if we behaved. I actually miss those subs.

It wasn’t something I grew out of like my tomato allergy. I drank a few sips a few years ago of the Cherry Dr. Pepper. Big mistake.

Tab was the first one to use cyclamates. was pretty young but they tasted like the real thing to me. When they switched to saccharin, which had a horrible taste, I stopped using those products. These days, I use Stevia in my coffee.

Your’re talking about very rare cases where the diagnoses are known at birth. Those people already know enough not to ingest artificial sweetners. There’s a rare case for everything. By that standard people should be afraid to ingest almost everything.

Again Aspertame is safe for diabetics.

I buy Smuckers — nothing but peanuts and salt.

I buy Smucker’s. The only thing added to the peanuts is salt.

I know it’s crazy, but last week I made a coconut cheesecake using stevia as the sole sweetening agent, and it tasted fine.

No one could tell.

It seems like all peanut butter today has corn syrup in it.

Wife bought a brand that said “Natural” on it. Turns out, it has a butt load of sugar.

When I was a kid, Peanut butter was made solely from peanuts and salt!

Is it me, or is the trend in craft brewing to put the beer in cans?

High end canned beer seems to have exploded in the last 18 months.

I thought the 2 hole press tab was near brilliant.

As a child when we’d go cross country camping it was the responsibility of the non-navigating son to open the beers while dad was driving.

I opened many between here and Canada, and some actually in Canada. It was easy to cut yourself on them, so maybe not near brilliant.

I whipped up the coconut cheesecake out of my head, and did not use a recipe, just my knowledge of cheesecakes in general.

I used coconut milk as the liquid, a little bit of coconut pudding, and 4 egg yolks, no whites.

The word “natural” is just a gimmick on food labeling. You’ve got to read the labels.

Smucker’s really does not have any sweeteners of any kind.

(Sheesh! I have touted them so many times on this thread that someone will think I have some association with the company.)

I thought of that, too, when I saw a Stevia reference. Only two episodes I saw. The whole ending online and the one where the guy in the wheelchair suckers the kingpin into a trap (saw that on TV in a hotel room).
