WASHINGTON - Just last week Florida Sen. Marco Rubio announced that he would seek re-election after a long presidential primary battle that saw him finish third to Donald Trump. Now it seems with the August GOP primary coming fast it seems that his biggest challenge on paper, could be someone who looks lot like Donald Trump.
We know that there is no love lost between Rubio and the presumptive Republican 2016 presidential nominee. Now enter billionaire Carlos Beruff, who has endorsed Trump, he's espoused some of the same controversial beliefs, and may even have the backing of Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
At this point it is not known if Trump would back Beruff in the race but that remains a possibility.
The voters of Florida can reelect Washingtons candidate, who has consistently failed to do the job they hired him to do and wont commit to serving a full six-year term. Or they can make a change, Beruff said in press release that was sent out Friday.
Do you want a Senator who puts politics and their own ambition first? Or do you want a Senator who puts Florida first?
Beruff is a 58-year-old real estate developer who, like Rubio, is the son of Cuban refugees who settled in south Florida. He has been a major supporter of Republican politicians in Florida and is now making his maiden run for office as an outsider with a decidedly Trumpian bent.
The political neophyte, who lacks the name recognition or exposure of Trump, has embraced the very same outsider persona worn well on Trump, who plunged the final knife into a staggering Rubio during the Florida Republican presidential primary.

Rebuff Marco with Beruff!!
Glad to see there is an alternative to Amnesty Boy
Initial reports on Beruff is he is another RINO posing as a conservative. Maybe better than Rubio but his past from what I read doesn’t seem much different than Rubio.
Rubio I clearly an oligarch. The people should replace him, then if necessary, replace his replacement. None of this lesser of two evils nonsense to support Rubio!
Anyone except Rubio, the RINO.
Initial reports in 2010 said that Rubio was a conservative who opposed amnesty. We know how well that worked out.
What is to gamble on a new person getting his chance to prove his metal and live up to his promises. God knows that Rubio won’t keep his.

Just keep reminding voters how Rubio said it didn’t matter that he missed votes in the Senate because he wasn’t going to run again.
What a great name for a Trump supporter.
He's one tough SOB and is, personality wise, the exact opposite of Rubio.
Oh noes...he’s a white Hispanic!
Just kidding. It is funny though.
Hope he whipes out bubble boy.
As a Floridian, I am thrilled to read about this!
My vote was going to be ABR, anybody but Rubio. But now, instead of voting against Rubio, I can actually vote FOR someone else.
I AM SURE GLAD I SWITCHED FROM INDEPENDENT TO REPUBLICAN AND DIDN’T SWITCH BACK OUT AGAIN. Now my vote can help primary Rubio OUT. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had I switched back to Independent, as some at FR were indicating they would do to show their disgust for the RNC, Florida would not allow me as an independent to vote in the Republican Primaries.
I am HAPPY!!!
Works for me.
Great! Rubio has to go! Running for POTUS when not eligible did it for me. Same with Cruz. Can’t support the Constitution while violating it.
Good move. The primaries will have a lot more action than normal this year, and not only in the statewide contests. Our local primaries are being contested for the first time in a long time with anti-establishment Republicans finding a lot of support. This is making for a very interesting and exciting cycle. Hope your area is seeing the same.
Shari E. Monetta Beruff has a thirteen year history of bundling massive checks to political candidates and securing government appointments for himself. Contrary to his claims that he's "sick of the status quo in Washington," he's been the guy bankrolling that status quo.
Since 2001, Beruff has given more than one million dollars in political contributions, either directly, through his wife, or through his companies.
Beruff's support for Crist didn't wane when Crist abandoned the Republican Party.
As the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported on April 22, 2010, "some of [Crist's] biggest GOP donors are vowing to stick with him even if he leaves the party and runs as an independent for the U.S. Senate...Those standing behind Crist include...Bradenton developer Carlos Beruff."
Crist would announce he was running as an independent less than a month later. Beruff never donated to Rubio.
We can find some questionable ties even when Crist was still claiming to be a Republican. The contributions list also shows that Beruff bundled $12,500 to Crist's 2006 gubernatorial campaign (the contribution limit was $500 that year), and an additional $10,000 to "Floridians for Truth and Integrity in Government," an electioneering communications organization (also called ECO, a type of PAC allowed under Florida election law) that was formed to help Crist. In that race, the conservative candidate was then-Florida Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher.
Crist ended up giving Beruff a series of political appointments, including to the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport Authority, the Southwest Florida Water Management Board, and the State College Of Florida Board. These appointed positions can yield powerful local influence, and it's not hard to see why a developer like Beruff would want them. The water management board appointment came in July 2009, just one month after Beruff had maxed out his donation to Crist's Senate campaign.
He seems more of a typical big government establishment type to me. I'd take him over Rubio sure, but who is the real Beruff....
Rubio is a proven liar. Beruff, not so much. I know who I will be voting for.
