George Will exits the GOP

Conservative columnist George Will told PJM he has officially left the Republican Party and urged conservatives not to support presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump even if it leads to a Democratic victory in the 2016 presidential election. Will, who writes for the Washington Post, acknowledged it is a “little too late” for the Republican Party to find a replacement for Trump but had a message for Republican voters.

“Make sure he loses. Grit their teeth for four years and win the White House,” Will said during an interview after his speech at a Federalist Society luncheon.

Will said he changed his voter registration this month from Republican to “unaffiliated” in the state of Maryland.

“This is not my party,” Will said during his speech at the event.

And what of the impact of helping elect Hillary Clinton as we “grit our teeth for four years,” as he puts it? What about the Supreme Court? He manages an answer for that question as well.

PJM asked Will about concerns among Republicans that a Hillary Clinton victory guarantees another liberal justice on the Supreme Court. In response, Will said a Republican president is not “the answer” to a conservative-leaning Supreme Court.

“Sure, but I’m also concerned with the fact that I do not really believe Republicans think clearly enough about what they really want in judges. Republicans have given us Earl Warren, Brennan, John Paul Stevens, Burger, who was kind of mediocre, Blackmun. Having a Republican president is not an answer in itself,” he said.

With all due respect to someone I have admired for a very long time, that’s got to be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard tumble out of George Will’s mouth.

“Make sure he loses. Grit their teeth for four years and win the White House,” Will said ....

*******************************************

Win it in 4 years with who? Paul Ryan? Marco Rubio? Jeb Bush? First of all, not sure there will be a country left after Hillary gets through with the Supreme Court nominations & pillaging the Treasury & starting WWIII in the ME & if she gets in for 4, she’ll likely have 8. The 3 mousketeers named above as likely GOP presidential candidates are all milquetoasts ... all open borders, too. Will is a traitor to this country if he thinks we can endure 4 years or more of Hilly’s destruction of our freedoms, way of life, and taking us down the road to socialist globalism, especially after the last 8 of Omuslim.

Guess he’s stomping his feet and holding his breath since threatening third party didn’t work.

“George Will is 75 years old. I think it’s time for HIM to retire.”

Hey, watch it! Some of us at 75 still have the ability to reason. Go Trump!

I'm not far behind you. :o)
I finally DID retire, after working FIFTY years. I loved my job...but even the best job has to end sometime. One of the best, and perhaps only, perk to being this old is the amazing CLARITY of thinking that has emerged.

Will comes across as a spoiled little brat. He's lived well in his inside the beltway bubble sucking up to the GOPe. After Trump wins, he will be an afterthought at best and slide into oblivion.

what a frickin’ crybaby.

seriously.

these GOP establishment bawl guts are a joke.

Grass roots people like me were told to support Dole, McCain, and Romney and do so even if they weren’t the perfect candidates.

We did.

Now, look—someone representative of that wing of the GOP is crying and running away.

Not very Reaganesque.

Good! Every one of these worthless turds who bail out, just validate the decisions the voters have made vis a vis Donald Trump. The whole Effing Boosh Administration needs to resign! That event would seal the deal for Trump!

I felt so unworthy of being a Republican when I realized that such a superior intellect as George Will was also a Republican. I am so unworthy to be a member in any club or organization that the amazing and God like George Will is in. I mean, he can sound really really lordly when he speaks. How can I possibly be worthy to be in his party!! I actually had to avert my eyes the other day when Mr. Will was on the TV for fear of having my unworthy eyes be blinded by Mr Will’s greatness.

Thank you Mr. Will!! Thanks for being you and living while a lowly personage like me is alive.

well, I got to say I got some vindication here for my long standing hatred for this as.h.le.. By throwing down with Clinton, he sheds any concept he is conservative, neither fiscal nor political. Maybe he wants a WWIII so he can figure the batting averages of the various hits and misses of the missiles. Maybe he wants a super liberal supreme court. He cites a bunch of not very conservative SC appointments by supposed conservative Republican presidents. How about the ones nominated by Reagan like one his newly adopted party by default shot down: Bork. O connor, scalia were not bad. Kennedy has gone a tad senile IMO. Making Reinquist chief justice was a good choice too.

When clinton gets in we get anti gun pro affirmative action open borders crowd picks...nowhere to go for those who wish to leave unfortunately. Nice run for the US, not quite 250 years.

George Will a devotee of Vladimir Lenin:

Otter: I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.

Bluto: George Will is just the guy to do it.

After four more years of Hillary there will never be another GOP President. They will fill the country with clients of the welfare state and the US will be no more. This is the hill we must die on. Literally or figuratively.
