“Scotland is like a 35 year old country, living in the basement of its parent, England.”
Economically, it’s a GIANT INNER CITY - the Brits would do great to cut them loose.
The Royal Navy would leave Scotland... another blow to Scottish jobs and the economy... and not a “scare story” either just plain fact. the SNP are also an appeaser party.... you know the sort... but no one would want to invade or take over out country so we do not need to waste money on defense. We would be left with a small rump of an army for ceremonial occasions only.
I wouldn't have expected any of the majority Scots who voted “Remain” to turn up at a Trump rally...:^)
So, is it time to re-write the “Braveheart” script and re-film the movie with an entirely opposite ending?
“Something fishy about Sturgeon.”
No more than her predecessor (Mr. Salmon).
As I understand it, Kansas City was over 50% government sector. That was ten plus years ago.
We have that problem here too.
Hopefully by the time Trump is done, our nation will be much more healthy.
How very interesting. I love Scotland so much, but somehow somewhere, they seem to have (temporarily) lost their way.
ROFL at your final comment!
A truly once great people now dependent on handouts, and of course, full of resentment against the people that help & feed them.

What you say is true, LWH, - but i do not fault the Scottish people.... too many were dumbed down and bought by the power elite just as too many in our nation have been. IMHO we do not have license to throw bricks at them. (Not that you are!)
I plead with them to wake up! It may be difficult, and painful, but they are made of VERY stern stuff, and will rise to the higher standard of their roots and culture, if circumstance compels.
“What does Scotland have that people want?”
The North Sea oil is the main thing - but it is on the road to collapse, since their last independence referendum. The last time, the oil price was high and proponents argued that they would be net gainers by going independent and taking the oil.
Now it is clear that they will be deeply in deficit if they leave. North Sea oil is unlikely to ever regain its former profitability, due to competition from shale oil. Investment has collapsed, and over 100 fields are set for early shutdown. The rest of the Scottish economy is weak, and the population is highly dependent on payments from Government.
The other major point is the UK Nuke Submarine base in Scotland. The left wants it closed, and the Scots are the most hard left population in the UK.
If Scotland leaves the UK, there will be a permanent structural dominance of the conservative Tory Party in the UK, and Scotland would become more like Greece politically.
Like Greece, an independent Scotland in the EU would have their hands out to Germany and France for a permanent stream of transfer payments. The UK today is one of the big bill payers for the EU.
Dropping the payments that the UK sends to both the EU and Scotland, would be a juicy boost to their budget.
What you said, and:
... thrifty... plaids.... kilts... bagpipes...sporans...
Please see my post 51.
And by the way, thank you for that explanation which is so needful to overcome the bad press that too many of the real folks suffer from world wide. And thank you for BEING one of the real ones!!
I love the Scottish people & also hope they come around....I’m not happy to see what’s happened over there by any means.
Oh I’m so glad! LOL! The worldwide press conglomerate is so unimaginably evil these days.
Well, we’ll just have to think good thoughts about them together! :-D
Scottish ones. Much to their eternal shame.
Scotland loves it’s socialism too much.
A crying shame that the land of my ancestors thinks likes this. I don’t understand the Scotland of today.
Oil.
