Britons 'took their country back' in Brexit vote: Trump
Yahoo Finance ^ | June 24,2016

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that Britons had taken back control of their country on Friday, after they voted to leave the European Union (EU) in a referendum.

Trump arrived in Scotland -- whose citizens took part in the referendum -- on Friday morning for the opening of his Trump Turnberry luxury golfing resort.

In a wide ranging press conference the tycoon said that, in the wake of the referendum, the break-up of the EU looked like it was "on its way, and we'll see what happens."

Trump also commented on President Barack Obama's warning in April that the U.K. would find itself at the back of the queue in trade talks if it left the EU.

"President Obama did say, I guess, that they should move to the back of the line," he said.

"That wouldn't happen with me: the UK has been such a great ally for so long, they'll always be at the front of the line, they've been amazing allies in good times and in bad times."

On Thursday, the U.K. voted to leave the European Union by 51.9 percent to 48.1 percent in one of the most significant referendums in generations. The result stunned global financial markets, which had priced in a victory for the "remain" vote.

In a Facebook statement released on Friday morning, Trump said that the British people had "exercised the sacred right of all free peoples."

"A Trump Administration pledges to strengthen our ties with a free and independent Britain, deepening our bonds in commerce, culture and mutual defense," the statement went on to add. "The whole world is more peaceful and stable when our two countries – and our two peoples – are united together, as they will be under a Trump Administration."

All the America haters and the British here are upset and feel this is a defeat.

The ignorance of some concern me.

Since Trump has spoken, I fully expect Valerie to send her man child out to speak in rebuttal.

This seems to be the new plan: the media and the man child are ordered to give anti-Trump talking points....I wonder if others will notice.

Seems that this strategy began in earnest with the temper tantrum last week in the wake of the Islamic terror attack in Orlando.

The man child and Hitlery were giving simultaneous speeches attacking Trump.

Scotland wants to stay in the EU. THEY may break away from the UK, which may spell doom for the Labour party.

I am hoping this is but a temper tantrum.

There is no real reason for any of this to be happening and I am guessing [hoping] that in 6 months the necessity of trade will make all this a forgotten memory.

Yeah I am taking a bit of a hit today, but looking for bargains in stocks that fell just cuz.

Hillary has been silent. I call it hiding. It's what she has done all through this campaign.

She's sick I tell ya.

A few small lessons learned, lest we repeat this mistake on a global scale:

When creating a union of nations, do not create an unelected uber-govermnent with a swarm of bureaucrats creating massive petty regulations for everybody.
They forgot "Consent of the governed".

When declaring "free movement" anywhere in the union, it's okay to restrict it to citizens of member states, trusted non-member nations or trusted and vetted individuals from elsewhere. Not everybody on the planet.

Oh, and don't let communists make the rules.

England didn’t ALWAYS belong to the EU so in my mind, it’s no big deal. Complete sovereignty is always the best.

And they try to claim he has no acumen for foreign policy.....He seems to be on the right side of just about every issue.

I just listened to Trump's conference, speaking about this. He was his usual Trump, but his responses were measured, rational, and he was thoughtful and well-spoken. He pointed out how wrong both Obama and Hillary Clinton were about the "Brexit," and gave several reasons why he thought it happened.

Well done.

The Dow futures are down over 1,000 points,

I think this is a very temporary thing. Wait for a short-term drop, then buy good stocks at discounted prices. I think in the coming days and weeks, people will see how little of an impact this will be on the global markets.

Maybe it was a timing thing. Apparently, he was promoting one of his resorts, that happens to be in Scotland, and it had little to do with the UK. I’d be surprised that Trump planned this trip on a couple of hours notice.

Then again, if he did plan it this way, he is brilliant.

Now it is time for the New Great Britain to revoke their ban on American broadcaster Michael Savage! His motto for years has been BORDERS, LANGUAGE, CULTURE. Seems to me that underlies their vote.
