The EU was a good idea in its lowest level as a union of different EUropean countries, preventing war.
They should move it to a confederation type, not the ever-closing unions, and this will move that caase

Maybe-but if I had a brother or nephew who wouldn’t work, who wouldn’t save, who wouldn’t even consider being gainfully employed, but who wanted to move in with me and access my savings, my checking, etc. ... would THAT be a good idea?
Ah, but the U.S. also began as a true confederation of states with a Federal Government, and now the once much stronger states have been largely displaced by massive centralized federal government which really does act as sovereign.
Sure there is ebb and flow throughout history, but the overall direction is toward a sovereign governance over a subjected society.
It is even to the point now where those who are in power see the supreme law of our land as a speed bump to be removed, gone around, or ignored all together to achieve their objectives.
This is the natural end to giving up our own sovereignty as individuals and states.
Subjection will be the end of any such system.
Obama loves the EU just like you do. That says something about the “validity” of your opinion in this matter.
