Markets around the world have been roiled by the shock result:

• In Japan the Nikkei 225 was down some 7.5 percent
• Sterling has fallen 10 percent against the dollar and 3.35 percent against the euro.
• The prices of Brent and WTI have both dropped some 5.8 percent.
• The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond has fallen 12.5 percent.
• Dow futures now down 700 points

This could very well collapse the EU and if the EU collapses the markets world wide will tank.

I think France will leave before the Netherlands. Although I heard that the EU is going to pass laws to prevent this from happening in other countries. The laws will ban leaving. I heard that tonight on the news.

Oh, goodie. That way, Angela Merkel can continue to threaten other EU countries with military action if they refuse to take in Islamic refugees.

Thanks NRx. The Fox Biz news stream ("Mornings with Maria", and others) is quite strong. No one said as much, but the Brexit "yea" vote has probably finished Angela Merkel, an unexpected bonus.

Not sure where it was (Fox or CNBC), but the Labour Party affiliated exit group spokesman was rushed to air, claiming that they were all really mostly concerned with the excessive red tape of the EU that has strangled business.

Gee, sounds like Donald Trump. Another talking head noted that Trump's on the right side of history on this, while Zero (didn't name the bastard, but that's who he meant) had already threatened the UK with trade consequences, and Hitlery had backed him up 100%.

Same guy noted that about 20 percent of US foreign trade was with the EU, and that about 20 percent of EU trade is with the UK -- iow, one fifth of our trade with the EU is with the UK -- and a reminder, about 25 percent or one quarter of all peer to peer tradein the EU is with the UK.

Guess we know who's runnin' things, eh? :')

The problem is that the UK needs the EU more than the EU needs the UK.

And when the Brits go to negotiate trade deals with the EU, the EU will extract it’s pound of flesh.
