Oakland CA is the hotspot because the soaring prices in SF sent people across the bay.
Nothing new here. People live where they can afford to live. That’s the way it’s been forever.

Brooklyn for some reason was pushed on people - starting in the 90s. I guess if trendoids want to live on the Newtown and Gowanus Canal (where I swear my grandparents honeymooned if the photos are to be believed!) it's up to them. And I speak as someone who LIKES Brooklyn.
