House sit-in guarantees gun control will be a top issue in fall election
Washington Post ^ | June 23, 2016 | James Hohmann

THE BIG IDEA: Paul Ryan calls it “a publicly stunt.” That may be true. But it is proving to be a darn effective one.

Republicans, unsure about how to deal with a sit-in that started on the House floor yesterday at 11:30 a.m., tried to talk over Democrats and hold routine votes. Then, around 3:30 a.m., they adjourned the chamber until after July Fourth – two days earlier than planned. In so doing, they’ve guaranteed that the debate about gun control will roil the congressional recess and remain a dominant storyline for the next two weeks.

Democrats continue to occupy the House floor this morning. About two dozen stayed through the night.

Bring it on.

Let the Democrats tout gun control. I want to see Hillary talk about it at every speech.

That will seal the election for Trump, and tip many competitive down-ticket districts to the Republicans.

the dumb ass Dems have had their asses handed to them every time they legislate against the 2nd amendment. Now they are attacking the 2nd again and the well being/safety of the LGBT community and by so doing, they are propping up muslim terrorists. This is the obozo effect in action and I surmise it will lead to the neutralization of the Dem/socialist party.

This behavior and action was endorsed by Hillary. She met with rat house leaders just hours before the started it.

Laws, rules, regulations be damned. These terrorists will do what ever they need to do to get their way.

Ryan better find his gonads before he returns otherwise it will be a circus.

Attention Republicans: Will a fearless Republican House Rep Pleeeeeeeeease get a big box of pacifiers and hand them out to the babies on the floor? Video it all and send it everywhere. Pleeeeeeease?

Take this right into July 4th. While republicans are celebrating our independence, democrats are supporting Islamic radicalism over the constitution.

Time to throw back the curtain.

Agree. This is the “bumper sticker” issue for the GOP. The opposite of “war on women” and “path to citizenship” for the left. But the beauty is that for all but the most left leaning, the argument has already been made. That the usual gaggle of leftists wants to sit on the floor in protest should be laughed at unendingly. Don’t get tired of repeating it. The left never worries about that.

One wonders how many false flag gun attacks operations the Obama administration will conjure up between now and November to keep the issue on the front burner...

I would be willing to bet a boat load of money this time frame until November will be the highest number of attacks in the last eight years...

Well its a good thing they are bad at math. Gun sales are through the roof in the last 4 years. A large percentage is new gun owners from 18-37 years old...right in the voting demographic they want. Now if all those people spent several hundred on a gun for themselves or loved ones... how likely is it they will vote for a candidate that is for gun control???

It's not gun control per say or "common sense gun reforms", it's gun confiscation and illegalization.

Excellent! Keep it up!

Gun control is SO popular, I hope they stay there until November. Where can I send a contribution?

If they are still sitting in, then here is my solution go get them out.

First, cater plenty of water and soft drinks to quench their thirst.

Next, lock all of the bathrooms.

Third, if they leave the sit-in, then don't allow them back in.

Fourth, if they foul the chambers, then fine them to no end.

IMHO!
