Its a sign better days are ahead for riot-torn businesses in Baltimore.
It been more than a year since the unrest that left some local businessin the red and some shutting their doors for good.
But leaders in Charm City say business is on the rise.
Were seeing new businesses open up every month. Theyre doing well, theyre happy, said Laurie Schwartz, with Waterfront Partnership.
At the new cafe-record store, Babys On, co-owner Shirlé Koslowski has no hesitation about opening shop despite the unrest.
I think people are resilient in the city and I think they constantly will bounce back, she says.

“Unrest” Yeah, that’s the ticket!
Wait until Thursday when the next not Guilty verdict is released.
The defense raised volumes of reasonable doubt, heck, some of the prosecutions witnesses raised doubt.
After three strikes, Mosby needs to pick up her racist attitude and go home. Drop the other cases.
I think those exact same words were spoken in Detroit. In Rome, some centuries before, too.
How is the homicide rate coming along?
Unrest. LOL is that the new term for homeys rioting?
yeah, Baltimore is a great place to be:

Read an article about the CVS that was burned in moron riots last year reopening a few weeks ago. It seems that it doesn’t stock several controlled substances that it used to and doesn’t intend to have on hand due to fear of looting. People with prescriptions for those medicines have to go to other pharmacies several miles away.
I’m sure insurance companies lined up for blocks to get in on this.
I can’t say that I’m surprised Oakland is second on the list.
When I was growing up in the Bay Area, we avoided going to Oakland. While there are some nice areas, most of the city should be avoided.
Baltimore is only 6th on the list. It is called “Charm City” for obscure reasons—because we sure do not get a sense of “charm” whenever we drive through. Run-down buildings, whole areas that are abandoned—not high on the “charm” scale for me.
About on track with last year, a record breaker.
What are the insurance rates?
“...After three strikes, Mosby needs to pick up her racist attitude and go home. Drop the other cases.”
She is doing this deliberately for politics...to keep the heat off of her miserable racist self. Another of many fine examples of slimy, corrupt DemocRat politics.
Baltimore is mostly a dump, although I do like what they did with some of the waterfront......
Room to Destroy Keynesianism.
The summer’s coming riots, shootings and lootings will change all the progress back to zero, starting with the BPD van driver’s ‘verdict’.
But, are these new businesses in the ghetto, in the riot zone, or near the riot zone? Or are they in other parts of town? Makes a big difference.
As is true of almost all places, Baltimore has some nice areas, and some real hell hole neighborhoods. If they are telling us about new business openings in general terms, businesses opening in ok neighborhoods, that’s completely irrelevant to the situation in the riot zone.
Well, I hope they are able to put this behind them, Baltimore’s been a damn sight more functional than Ferguson.
How many of those businesses have started via the generosity of US taxpayers?
I doubt CVS still carries father’s day cards.
Ferguson was EXTREMELY functional for the race-baiters.
