The Senate plans to take four procedural votes Monday on amendments that would improve or expand background checks and make it harder for suspected terrorists to purchase guns. None is expected to get the 60 votes required for further action.

Democrats were expected to block two Republican amendments, arguing that they fall short in controlling the sales of guns. Republicans were expected to block two Democratic amendments, contending that they threaten the constitutional rights of gun owners.

Improve background checks? Yeah, right. Congress is in session, we're in trouble anytime they are. Probably too much differing opinions to get anything passed. I hope. Of course when the passed the AWB, I watched on cspan and sat there with my mouth hanging open thinking, "WTF is wrong with you people."

Background checks should be improved to simply be the same as in a traffic stop.

Cop checks your license w/dispatch for outstanding warrants, etc.. Takes less than 5 min.

Can do same at point of sale.

None of these will pass and Obama will nail the republicans for being responsible for every gun death on earth.

When they say “improve” background checks they mean make them mandatory for all private sales.

McConnell will do anything to save the 5 endangered RINOs in this election. They can vote Yes on gun control to save their seats and keep him in his spot as Leader.
Everyone knows that whatever they pass is dead when it gets to the House, because if House members vote for gun control, they are history.

Republicans should say that they will approved of expanded background checks the minute Voter ID is mandatory.

Well that may soon come to fruition in NV if the ballot question #1 passes in Nov. One thing about nannie bloomers and the momunists, they are persistent. And they have LOTS of money to help “educate” the dimbulbs who are pretty much brain dead. “This will finally put and end to ‘gun violence’”. None of them bright enough to figure 300+ million residents, 300+ million guns, 32,000(?) gun related deaths/yr= less than 0.0001% chance you’ll get shot. Of course if you decide to be a “if I had a son” thug, your chances go up dramatically.

I saw an article the other day where a DNC toad in Obonzo’s national “media” claimed that she purchased an AR-15 “in five minutes.” I wish the b*tch would explain to me why it took me almost an hour to purchase a 12 ga. pump at Walmart.

The Democrats have been screaming for gun registration and bans since 1962.
The demands...

1963-Call for registration of All guns and a ban on 5 shot army surplus rifles!
1968-Got a ban on small foreign handguns and 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles.
1971-Call for Ban on small American handguns.
1975-Call for Ban on all handguns.
1981-Calls for more control of handguns. Rifles will not be affected, just registered!
1984-Call for ban on semi-auto rifles.
1994-Ten year ban on “a-s-s-ault rifles”.
2000-Call to ban single shot .50 cal rifles.

Might as well vote on controls of other inanimate objects like flower vases.

Well THAT's an improvement! The last time I needed to leave the store and come back 5 hours later, the N"I"CS was so backed up. Granted, it was a Monday. (I was beginning to wonder if I was on a gov't Secret List but everyone else milling around was having the same delay.)

Yes, I’d like a free BLT with my next firearm / ammo purchase.

It’s as predictable as sunrise following night - let a criminal abuse firearms, and the Liberals in congress will do their level best to chip away still more at the constitution and further curtail the freedoms of the law-abiding.

Let ‘em vote. It’s never anything but an electoral death sentence for Democrats.

I thought McConnell was running the Senate. Why is he allowing this?
I know. Stupid question but sheesh!
