A faculty committee has proposed adding a three credit hours requirement in diversity to the general education curriculum at Wayne State University. It also recommended that WSU drop its university-wide requirement in mathematics, an idea that was carried out on June 13.

I graduated high school in 1976, before that summer in a group setting a teacher asked where people were going to school next year. We went around the room, got the Michigan, michigan state, ferris state, centeral, eastern, and so on until the last guy, who later graduated from a religious school. When it was his turn at last he said “Going to Wayne State to learn to be a Pimp.” Brought down the house.
It’s been a long time that the school has had a reputation.

Yes, obviously diversity training is much more important in life than math. Who needs math, if you understand “diversity”?

The university professionals who made this decision should be fired and the university curriculum returned to utility and sanity.
This just doesn’t add up.
There is a nationwide attack on mathematics prerequisites driven by liberals with their ridiculous worthless degrees. If mathematics was not required for accreditation, they would get rid of the mathematics in a heartbeat. We are constantly being reminded that math is the reason for the low graduation rate.

This is so sad, as they are my alma mater. Used to be an excellent school. My how things have changed for the worse.
Just imagine is they reversed the order:
Step 1: Bring in more African Americans
Step 2: Uhhhhh, better drop that math requirement, because ... well ... you know ... the students can’t ... they can’t do it.
And I bet that is actually part of the thinking.
That’s exactly who I want making my change at the burger joint, a diversity major who can’t count. Can pull an Abbot and Costello routine on them and they would have a clue.
I talked o a college grad that didn’t we use atomic boms in Japan. He called me “crazy”. These colleges need to be closed a fraudulent.

We don’t need no stupid maths in our schools. Somalia and El Salvador are sending us there best and brightest engineers, scientists, architects, and doctors. Americans will just sit back and relax while they all go to work and pay taxes to support us. It’s working well in Germany.

Nobody in the history of mankind was less accomplished in math than myself...I hated everything about it, and failed to see any rational reason to study the likes of algebra and geometry...
I even hate this drastic tendency in liberal education...
We definitely need to require more and more education to teach young people to be less and less able to do anything that is actually useful. It’s the Ph.D. in the B.S. We need them to be unable to do long division but be able to divide society into in-cohesive particles. How else can we keep up the tradition of affirmative action dictatorship that we have now begun?
