Prosecutors seeking murder charges over Freddie Grays death rested their case against Caesar Goodson on Wednesday with an expert witness who crumbled under cross-examination. His testimony was the latest of several blows in the trial that experts say is prosecutors best shot at getting a conviction for Grays death.
After failing to win in the first two trials, the case against Caesar Goodson is especially important for Marilyn Mosby, the embattled states attorney.
Goodson was the driver of the van in which Gray was transported, and faces the most serious charge of second-degree depraved heart murder. Gray died of a spinal injury the medical examiner says he sustained in the van, prompting citywide protests.
Witness Stanford ONeill Franklin, a former police commander, was called to support the prosecutions theory that Gray suffered what is known as a rough ride, a practice in which a driver jolts and takes sharp turns, jostling a prisoner who is handcuffed and shackled without a seatbelt.
But when asked by defense attorney Matthew Fraling whether he saw any evidence of Goodsons erratic driving, he couldnt say.
Asked if, in reviewing footage of the vans stops, he saw evidence of unexpected starts, stops, or turns, Franklin answered: I did not.
Its not your contention that Officer Goodson in any way engaged in a rough ride? Fraling asked.
I cant say for sure, Franklin responded.

You are wrong. She is a Racist even though she has thrown some Black Officers out for bait. She is the type person that will call another Black that does not fit her stereotype an Uncle Tom!
To the tune of over 6 Million Tax Payer Dollars.
At this point I’d be surprised if anything happened to the cops (because it was a stretch to charge most of them anyway, and the case is crumbling). If they were wrong, punish them; in any case, expend a thirty-minute response time for calls in the future.
The rioting was beneficial in warning whites that the Baltimore renaissance is a myth; a small safe section (during the day), and don’t be caught there at night...
Show trials don't play well with me. But I get that, too.
Thanks for the input.
Actually, there is no jury for these trials.
I objects your honor!
What is extra tragic is how these things get spun.
No wonder they end up with some bad cops (not that these were). It's a wonder cops can work in that environment or any environment these days.
The last defendant, whose trial ended in acquittal last month, was white.
The agitprop always finds fertile ground with the Afro-gypsy population that has nothing to lose; their minds were set as soon as The Masters (those who tell them what to “think” - community activists, “reverends”, Red politicians, etc.) pointed them in a certain direction.
In the hard-core slums cops are practically patronage jobs (with little expectations of actually serving or protecting); I have little sympathy for anyone (of any color) that takes those jobs. They are simply part of the “poverty industry”, drawing pay from people other than those who they “serve” (who contribute nothing to anything at all - just breeding more clients for the “poverty industry”...).
Affirmative action - bad platform to build on,
After looking at the video, I think he broke his neck running from the police. He couldn’t walk.
Well, in that case, he must have been considered a murderer because he’s a cop.
Obama’s third daughter.
After this trial, which will be an acquittal. Mosby will be 0 or 3.
And she should be fired by the Governor of Maryland.
Enough is enough.
Marilyn Mosby is creepy. She reminds some of us of the walking dead.
I’ve almost got a dog in this hunt. My company is located in Baltimore and an acquaintance of mine testified last week. I live north of Baltimore.
Before you make emotional pronouncements, you should familiarize yourself with basic criminal law. The state MUST prove guilt beyond any possibility of reasonable doubt. They are absolutely nowhere close. It’s a total clown show.
None of the testimony shows that there was neither rough driving not negligence. Baltimore also has tons of cameras.
It is Baltimore so who cares? Maybe they can roll on down to DC and also burn it down. Give the entire Country some relief.
Happens all the time in government...particularly at the state and local level.
