Oh, God. The EU is insane.
Last year, the EU decided that it needed to regulate vacuum cleaners (limit their wattage). No one could explain that one.
The year before...they were quietly working up a regulation that would affect restaurants in Europe. It’s a common practice, if you go to a Greek or Italian shop (in any country) that they have a generic glass bottle on the table for olive oil and one for vinegar. The restaurants will buy bulk in plastic containers and refill as necessary. Saves everyone money and no one cares about where it comes from.
Well....the EU decided that plain generic bottles were unacceptable and wrote a regulation that required the bottles to all be commercial bottles with labels.
This got out into the news and the restaurants blew up...why regulate this? They stopped the effort a week later.
At the present rate....I expect escalator speed, thickness of toilet paper, and size of band-aides to be eventually EU-regulated.
What the Brits want....is to have the EU idiot in front of them and to be able to answer questions. Presently....there’s a vote, and this idiot never comes back to the public to explain what they did this week or why this regulating business has to occur. The EU, for all practical purposes....has become more of a problem than a solution.
