Bill O'Reilly takes stunning stance on guns after Orlando massacre
Business Insider ^ | 06/14/2016 | Allan Smith

Bill O’Reilly stunned many viewers Tuesday night when he called for some measures of gun control to be implemented after the terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida, that claimed the lives at least 49 people — the deadliest mass shooting in US history. […]

“There is too much gun crime in the USA, and high-powered weaponry is too easy to get,” he said. “That’s the fact. So let’s deal with it. We all have the right to bear arms, but we don’t have the right to buy and maintain mortars. Even if you feel threatened by gangsters or a New World Order. No bazookas, no Sherman tanks, no hand grenades.”

“That’s because the Second Amendment clearly states the government has a right to regulate militias, made up of individuals,” he continued. “They have that right in the name of public safety. Therefore, Congress should debate what kind of weapons should be available for public sale. And the states, the individual states, should decide what kind of carry laws are good for their own people.” …

Billy Boy should just move to a new safe space. Say China. I hear they have strict gun laws.

In the face of terrorism and mass murders, O’Reilly said it is time to put new laws on the books."

It will be interesting to watch his ratings going forward. He should be shunned.

Ted Baxter is an expert in everything (in his mind). The man is an ignoramus on many subjects, especially economics. Whenever he is asked a question that he cannot answer he raises his voice and tries to intimidate whoever does not buy his B.S. What does he know about guns? He was a draft dodger during the Vietnam war. That is why he was a teacher for a few years. He did it for the draft deferment.

O’Reilly uttered his pronouncement last night. Miss America made her pronouncement today. Not that the order of pronouncement matters.

These so-called conservatives never understand, even after so many lessons, that rolling over for dhimmis never ends a debate it merely moves the goal post.

And that's why Trump.

Only an idiot or political panderer would say what BOR said. And the author of this POS article is TWISTING the Second Amendment beyond what is SAYS AND MEANS.

Panderers like BOR always neglect the real reason behind the Second Amendment...that of the RIGHT of the individual citizen to arm and protect themselves against A FREEDOM-ROBBING AND OPPRESSIVE GOVERNMENT.....BOR is playing to the low-information, emotional masses that make up his ratings.

Bill’s use of the Militia phrase in his argument shows his lack of understanding of how the term was intended. Bad stuff from a practitioner of history.

He is being pulled by his liberal neighbors back into the Diane Feinstein “assault weapons ban” situation that did not work anyway.

Higher penalties for crimes committed with the aid of guns would work, and O’Reilly has in the past supported this position, but moving into the left’s position that some guns are too effective to be in the hands of the people is a non-starter.

It’s not just O’Reily. This looks like a secret consensus was made amongst the GOPe, certain media figures and Trump. They’re liking it back to people on the terrorist watch list.

Now all we have to worry about is continuing degenerating standards of what it takes to go on the terrorist watch list. An off color facebook page? A misconstrued tweet? Failure to file your taxes on time? Divorced male?

Given the licenses the perp had, no conceivable background check would have denied him a gun. The FBI just blew it when they concluded he shouldn't be on a terror list.

Oh, and banning the sale of AR-15's might be a feel good measure for liberals, but all that would result is the perps would use a hunting rifle that shoots a bigger slug at a higher velocity.

The Dims passed several gun control bills in Colorado after the Aurora massacre but nobody in the media or the legislators involved seemed to care that not one of the restrictions would have stopped the killer or changed his tactics. But damn they all felt better about themselves.

This is my proposal:

Gun acquisition by a specific individual person shall be unlawful and barred:
1. after:
a. having plead guilty, no contest or being convicted of any crime
involving the threatened or actual use of violence or armed force
for which incarceration of more than one year was ordered or officially requested and pending
b. agreeing to not possess a gun in exchange for a reduced period of incarceration or other punishment
c. having threatened a law enforcement officer, correctional officer or member of the bar
or any closely related person of the above with violence, physical harm/injury or death
d. after having beaten a spouse or domestic/intimate partner
and such is a matter of legal record
2. while:
a. a family court matter, for which the person is a party, is under adjudication
b. under a court restraining order requiring separation from another human being, home or a workplace
c. legally considered mentally incompetent or a danger to oneself or others
d. under probation or criminal/drug court supervision
e. owing over $500 in past due child support and/or alimony
f. a judgment originally over $500 is unpaid
g. owing assessed court (associated) costs that were orginally over $500
h. a fine originally over $500 is unpaid
3. for one year after:
a. having taken a mind-altering substance in violation of any applicable US law
b. having tested positive by the best known test for a specific illegal mind-altering substance
c. a judicially approved appropriate request justified by specific documented action(s) of the person to be barred
(and not solely by fear) made by
and accompanying per person payment to the Dept. of ATF of a $2,000 fee only payable by and paid by:
A. an accredited higher education institution where the person applied, was or is enrolled
B. a former or current employer
4. for 90 days after:
a. having been discharged from a job for which an I-9 was filled out
b. having been forced/urged to quit a job, for which an I-9 was filled out, by a job-related superior
c. having been denied unemployment/workman’s compensation by official action
d. having experienced any of the following mental symptoms:
A. prolonged anger
B. violent anger
C. rage
D. depression
E. mood swings
F. hullucinations
G. paranoia
e. having been kicked out of school or placed under academic probation
f. having gotten a D, F or other failing grade in a higher-education course involving your academic major
g. having been refused public service employment
5. for 30 days after having gotten adverse action from any administrative law official or court of law

Basic background check form questions
1. Are you a named party in an ongoing family court matter lawsuit, instituted by someone other than yourself?
2. Are you under a court restraining order requiring separation from another human being, home or workplace?
3. Have you been discharged from a job/forced/urged to quit a job in the past 90 days?
4. Have you been denied unemployment/workman’s compensation by official action in the past 90 days?
5. Have you gotten adverse action from any administrative law official or court of law within the past 30 days?
6. Check each mental symptom listed below that you have had in the past 90 days:
a. prolonged anger
b. violent anger
c. rage
d. depression
e. mood swings
f. hullucinations
g. paranoia
7. Have you taken a mind-altering substance illegally in the past year?
8. Have you tested positive for an illegal mind-altering substance in the past year?
9. Do you owe more than $500 in past due child support and/or alimony?
10. Have you been kicked out of school or placed under academic probation in the past 90 days?
11. Have you gotten a D, F or other failing grade in a higher-education course involving your academic major in the past 90 days?

Positive answers to these questions will not bar gun acquisition in themselves, but further inquiry must clearly indicate that gun acquisition is appropriate:
1. Have you taken or been prescribed any medication for a mental symptom listed in question 6 above in the past year?
2. Have you used a gun outside the USA and any European/southern African country from which you had hunting license in the past two years?
2. Have you received military training, except while in US government service, outside the USA in the past five years?
3. Have you have visited any of the following countries in the past three years:
Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Libya
4. Did you overnight at place other a commercial lodging establishment or a relative’s home while
in any country listed in question 3.
5. Have you accessed terrorism promoting website webpages on more than five occasions in the past year?

Naturally, we will need something in return from the Democrats.

Their clubs, their “liberal” “higher” education establishments and their cushy government workplaces are where rage turns deadly.

Doesn’t surprise me in the least. O’Reilly’s an arrogant, self-important bastard who sees himself as the smartest person in any room, no matter how large and no matter how many people. Years ago he was preaching that “there’s no need for anyone to have one of those huge, oversized gas-guzzling SUVs!” That’s the point at which I stopped listening to his blather.
