Has anybody seen Donald J Trump's tweet today about his planned meeting with the NRA?

Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump

I will be meeting with the NRA, who has endorsed me, about not allowing people on the terrorist watch list, or the no fly list, to buy guns.

Flying on a plane is not a constitutionally protected right.

Shall not be infringed.

Pepple on the no fly list should not be allowed to buy weapons, period.

No. To do this in a secret order, without much of an opportunity to appeal and without even notification is absurd. If they want to tie the no-fly and no-buy lists, it should require an open court hearing with all the protections normally afforded in court to put someone on the no-fly list. "Shall not be infringed" is a strong statement and should be treated as such.

Lol, misstep? Talking to the NRA means just that, talking. Save your hysteria for when anything comes of this.

For the moment the optics of this are very good for Trump.

Think how IRS targeted conservatives. Same would happen with this list.

Disappointing.

Reeks of the Pre-Crime Division from “Minority Report” — punishing people before they commit a crime.

And, of course, Obama and his ilk (who have said white Christian right wingers pose a greater threat than muslims) would never abuse a program that unaccountably puts people on a secret list to deprive them of their Constitutional rights.

I mean, look at how unbiased the IRS is.

/sarcasm/

“If that gets instituted tomorrow the list will be expanded to cover all Christians and conservatives by the end of the summer.”

Yep.

“That’s all fine until you wind up on the list for no reason.”

But, but right wing white people are the biggest threat to the USA. The head of the DHS just said so, yesterday.

The criminals will get guns anyway but at least it may slow it down.

Trump for President.

Absolutely. If the IRS can target tea party members without punishment, what guarantees do we have that the no-fly list is not politically motivated, is accurate and fair?

It sounds like Trump is going to sit down with the NRA and get their information and position on the no-fly list.

The problem with the no fly list is the IRS scandal, the fast and furious scandal, and the Benghazi scandal.

This government doesn’t just lie about its opponents. It attacks them.

Yeah...you get on the no-fly list in secret. Without due process of law. They want to do the same with firearms...you won’t even know it.

This bastard in the white house is coming for you...and the GOPe just plays with it’s crotch. We’re on our own.

Deprivation of constitutional rights without due process; 14th amendment violation.

Was this shooter on the no-fly list??

We know the San Bernadino guy wasn't.

“There has to be an appeal mechanism that is fair and timely.”

Nonsense. Due process has to happen BEFORE deprivation of rights, not afterwards.

Not surprising.

Folks without a solid conservative foundation will sometimes respond to the issue of the day with liberal, knee-jerk policies.

Why are people on the no-fly list allowed to vote?

Why are they allowed to drive?

Why are they allowed in this country at all?

If you can’t fly, you can’t be an American, because Americans have the right to buy guns.

Looks like an unholy alliance to conspire to take our rights by government diktat. IHMO, if Trump and the NRA do this, Trump will lose the election.
