House Democratic Caucus Chair Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) urged Congress on Wednesday not to leave for the week until it votes on a measure that would prevent people on the governments no-fly list from purchasing a gun.
This Congress should not leave this week without giving us a vote on something very simple: No Fly, No Buy. If you cant fly, because you are on a watch list by our government and you are not allowed on an airplane, you should not be allowed to enter a gun shop and walk out with an assault weapon, said Becerra.
The bill [1] Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015, also known as No Fly, No Buy was introduced [2] by Rep. Donald Norcross (D-N.J.), a member of the House Budget Committee, as an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget.
It Amends the federal criminal code to grant the Attorney General the authority to deny the transfer of firearms or the issuance of a federal firearms and explosives license to any individual if the Attorney General: (1) determines that such individual has been engaged in or has provided material support or resources for terrorist activities, and (2) has a reasonable belief that such individual may use a firearm or explosive in connection with terrorism.
It also allows any individual whose firearm or explosives license application has been denied to bring legal action challenging the denial.

I understand the sentiment, but am troubled by how nobody seems to know how people end up on the no fly list. Nobody knows what the criteria are. Nobody can challenge their being on such a list .
This makes me suspect the government officials motives towards doing this. They will be taking people’s rights away without due process, since for unknown reasons there is no due process in putting someone on the no fly list.
Guilty until proven innocent, in a court that ordinary civilians are not allowed to stand before in person. Sure, that’ll go over well.
Which doesn’t even touch on the incredible amount of error already present in the no-fly list, or the ease with which such a list can be abused (c.f. the IRS targeting conservative political groups).
Nationwide protests are in order. Huge numbers of people.
I should add too the famous quote that “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible (such as with a secret list that denies a constitutional right), make violent revolution inevitable”
And you won’t know you are on the list until you get to the airport and are told you can’t board.
Soon as this law is passed, Conservatives are suddenly going to find themselves on the “no fly list”. Especially the more vocal, active ones. This is a very bad idea.
Fine, vote for it. Ain’t gonna make one damn bit of difference.
Definitely any conservative group which applies to the IRS for tax exempt status will find its members on the list.
No stupid lists until the state can actually manage common sense stuff like profiling and secure borders. I mean come on, first convince us that you actually care about the safety of citizens.
Freegards
The entire no-fly system is badly designed. No due process, no ability to face your accuser, no appeal, no mechanism for appeal. If we’re going to use it this way, it ought to be constitutional. Check that, if we’re going to use it at all for any purpose, it should be constitutional.
House Democratic Caucus Chair Xavier Becerra (Debt Slavemaster-Calif.) should be in federal prison.
11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.
6. But the grand nostrum will be a public debt
7. It must not be forgotten that the members of the legislative body are to have a deep stake in the game.

Donald Trump tweeted his support for this idea today.
Maybe you POd someone in your local sheriff’s office or sent a nastygram to your Rep. or Senator. Who knows? Whoever it is ain’t telling. Notice that the provision allows for a challenge after you find out (how?) that your on the list and have been denied. Who has the money for a lengthy legal battle with the feds? Not me.
Suddenly 300 million people are added to the watch list.
Look....any muzzie can go to Mexico and buy made in USA guns. That’s what gun runners do.
This was brought up last year by someone on FreeRepublic....that if you did anything on an airline to be forcibly removed....you were put on a no-fly list.
So much easier to control the law abiding than having to work at looking for the bad guys.
End of discussion. Congress doesn't have the authority to even discuss a "no guns list".
