It's my understanding that the MCX lower receiver is completely interchangeable with almost any (or maybe any) AR-15 upper receivers.

I just looked, you can put the MCX upper on any AR-15 Mil-Spec lower. Not sure if the reverse is true. The site doesn't mention that.

It needs an adapter to put the mcx upper on the AR lower.

I may be having a senior moment, so I will have to recheck my info. However I believe you are spot on about the Sig upper working with AR lowers.

After looking at more pics, nope, you can't put an AR upper on the Sig MCX lower, no buffer tube accommodation, and the lower appears to have a mount for a swing-away stock where the hole for the buffer tube mount would be on the AR lower.
