Obama 'not ruling out' executive actions on guns

President Obama is not ruling out issuing more executive actions to curb certain types of gun sales, his top spokesman said Monday, even though he’s not aware of any additional steps the president can take under his current authority.

“The president has taken substantial executive actions using as much executive authority as he can,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said. “I’m not going to rule out additional steps … he’s not going to hesitate to act.”

After the bloody jihadist attack in an Orlando Sunday, Obama’s first comments were not to condemn Islamic terrorism but to put the blame on the availability of guns in America.

The president told the nation Sunday’s attack was a “further reminder of how easy it is for people to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or a house of worship, or a movie theater, or in a nightclub, and we have to decide if that’s the kind of country we want to be.”

Hillary Clinton, who is Obama’s choice for his successor, hammered the same theme in media interviews.

“We did have an assault-weapons ban for 10 years,” Clinton told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. “I think it should be reinstated.”

“Let’s keep weapons of war off our streets like the one that was used in Orlando,” she added, talking to NBC’s “Today.”

“We know the gunman used a weapon of war to shoot down at least 50 innocent Americans and, you know, we won’t even be able to get the Congress to prevent terrorists or people on the no-fly list from buying guns.”

I’d bet more and more people are “not ruling out” gun action on the executive. The purpose of the 2nd was not hunting or sport. And the government doesn’t like it because it’s original purpose conflicts with their goals. More situations like the Oregon standoff are the real concern with guns.

1. Muslim terrorist kills 49 in largest mass shooting in US history. Naw.

2. Gay Muslim security officer finds being gay and being Muslim fundamentally incompatible, goes berserk, kills 49 in largest mass shooting in US history. Naw.

3. The gun's fault. Or Trump's fault. Or Bush's fault. Or it's the fault of straight, employed, tax paying, white males, clinging to their NRA membership cards and Bibles. Or something.

I think they are flailing.

I also think that only the hard-core loony left are likely to buy any explanation except for #1 or #2. Hopefully, they don't make up 50% of voters, yet.

So, this raises another question in my feeble little mind. Former soldiers such as betray-us and mac-crystal have started down the path to promote more “gun safety”. Could it be because they know first hand what a bunch of un-uniformed people can do to an occupying force? Future goals perhaps? Why didn’t the simply disarm all those folks in Iraq and Afghanistan? All they had to do was write an executive directive.

When the nation is under attack, beware the man who wants to disarm the citizenry.

I’m not sure he can do that but I don’t know enough about it. I’ll have to look. I wouldn’t put anything past him.

Since Paul Ryan is completely neutered, Trumpp should come out and declare - the President has no standing to make any random “executive action” on guns, and should be ignored

Executive Orders are NOT LAW...

Executive Orders ONLY APPLY to the Executive Branch.

What is a weapon of war? I carried a M9 in Iraq, that is a weapon of war. Just about anything could be construed as a weapon of war.

Trump is giving Dear Leader more pushback than the rest of the GOP combined for the last 7 years. Finally someone is doing it.

NCIS comes under the executive branch so IMO he can shut it down.

Now....there would be a huge nationwide uproar, beyond any doubt.

Bammie already knows Hillary has to defend his record; she’s in the same party and is running for his third term, inescapably.

Hillary must have already warned him not to do anything politically stupid about guns. “I’ll handle the gun issue, Barack”.

It’s kinda late there 0b0z0, they’re already on the streets and in homes. Am I correct in saying that most shootings are done with handguns not ‘assault’ weapons?
