Florida Rep. Alan Grayson used the aftermath of Sunday’s Islamic terror attack to claim AR-15 semi-automatic rifles can fire 700 rounds per minute.
Security guard Omar Mateen killed 49 people and wounded over 50 others during an attack on a gay nightclub — the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Mr. Grayson, a Democrat, was asked about the massacre and soon turned his attention to the AR-15 rifle.

“If [Mr. Mateen] was not able to buy a weapon that shoots off 700 rounds in a minute, a lot of those people would still be alive,” the congressman said. “If somebody like him had nothing worse to deal with than a Glock pistol … he might have killed three or four people and not 50. It’s way too easy to kill people in America today, and we have to think long and hard about what to do about that.”
CNN’s Erin Burnett then replied, “You’re right about that.”
Conrad Close, the conservative editor in chief of American Crossroads, then offered $50,000 to the charity of Mr. Grayson’s choice if he accomplish the feat,

I’ve never seen a belt-fed, water-cooled, chrome-moly bull barrel, full-auto M4A3, but I’d bet it’s a sight to behold. LOL.
The shooter was killing people for 3 hours before SWAT shot him.
You can easily fire a muzzle loader 50 times in 3 hours, or slash 50 throats with a knife in 3 hours.
The type of weapon is irrelevant, his being a good muslim is what caused this.
I’m with you there, that was after you ricochet the round off the jet 10 miles away at 30,000 feet, just to make it sporting.
And unfortunately there are a lot of politicians and TV talking heads that think we can really do that crap.
IOW, fire an M4 at that rate for a minute, and you’d have a melted M4 and a burned off hand.
Hey, to that vacuum skull Grayson, all mean looking guns are the same. Maybe he got it confused with the SAW? (They’re both 5.56 at least.)

I was under the assumption it was "Latin Night" for homosexual Hispanics. Judging from the videos showing some of the survivors leaving the club that night, I would be surprised to learn that you are correct with your statement.

I’m surprised that, in all that time, nobody got in there with their own gun and shot him.
There are a few people who can fire a semi auto very fast but they are rare. I am pretty slow but still as fast as I want to be.
I once saw a Texas Ranger who belonged to our gun club fire a Remington 870. He was so fast that I could not believe it. I suspect he was firing faster than most machine guns. Five shots in almost a continuous roar.
11+ trigger pulls a second. Maybe a whiz piano player could do it, it would take tricky fingering though.
