SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Authorities in Santa Monica arrested an Indiana man Sunday morning ahead of the LA PRIDE parade in nearby West Hollywood after the discovery of possible explosives in a car, according to California law enforcement.
Just before 3 p.m. ET, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti told the Associated Press a heavily armed man was arrested, and that man told police during his arrest he was going to the PRIDE parade. Investigators removed items from the suspect's white Acura sedan and placed them on the sidewalk near the driver's side door, according to KNBC.
Santa Monica Chief of Police Jacqueline Seabrooks identified the suspect on her official Twitter feed as James Howell of Indiana. She said Howell told officers he wanted to harm the PRIDE event. Chief Seabrooks said he was arrested for weapons and explosive materials possession.

Yes, it's a strange location and he was lurking in the bushes which caused the cops to appear.
I1th St has the Salvation Army, a building supply and a Lexus place N. of Olympic, and an old neighborhood of single family homes and apartments S of Olympic. The area is getting unscaled and gentrified like the rest of Santa Monica.
Again, it's a very strange place to hunt for Pride Parade members.

I think Tangerite needs to be hit by a 2400 fps projectile. Don’t think a car on a highway could ever set it off.
Particularly since you’d have to work hard at carrying several long guns and some tannerite in a vehicle in such a way as to generate a chargeable offense.
The only thing that would put him in jeopardy would be actually saying he was going to do something, or actually having mixed the tannerite components, or actually carrying the guns loaded.

Strange indeed. He was knocking on Santa Monica neighborhood doors and windows at 5 am, and neighbors reported a “prowler” to local police. No where near West Hollywood.

The FBI viewed yesterday as a TOTAL DISASTER and understood the sudden political need to CATCH SOMETHING.
They called up their undercover division and asked about if they had some live ones brewing and ordered one of the associated case officers to command the guy to drive to the nearest gay event.
