Cops go to wrong home in GA and kill homeowner
ABC News ^ | 6-10-16 | Jeff Martin AP

A Georgia homeowner shot in the neck after police went to the wrong house has died, a lawyer for the family said Friday.

William Powell, 63, died Thursday afternoon at Atlanta Medical Center, attorney Keith Martin said.

A preliminary review of the 911 call indicates the three officers who responded had gone to the wrong home and showed up at Powell's house, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

Powell was armed with a gun and was shot in the neck by Sgt. Patrick D. Snook, the GBI said in a report.

Snook is on paid leave, the standard protocol in such cases, Henry County police Capt. Joey Smith said.

Powell had grabbed the gun for protection, not knowing who might be outside in the dark of night, Martin said. A nearby home had been burglarized just two weeks before the shooting, he added.

Gosh, I know. Makes all of us think about our front door.

Cop training needs to include a contingency for factoring in that the cop is possibly at the wrong address, in every house call they engage. This is getting too frequent with innocent citizens and/or their pets dying needlessly and little ones terrorized for life.

I live in a small town, thank goodness. We know our local police. I very much recommend it.

That very same prosecutor would have went for murder 2 if a neighbor citizen shot the guy.

If cops are going to be held to higher standards they ought ot at least get murder 2.

“I live in a small town, thank goodness. We know our local police. I very much recommend it.”

I believe that the string pullers and powers-that-be want our country anonymized and urbanized. That way the authorities will have no compunction against taking action when so ordered. Americans are now ruled by a racist non egalitarian mega urbanite culture, indoctrinated by Harvard elites. They rule over us and propagandize us, and invite in the criminal element so they take away our rights while they militarize the police. The goal is to pit average Americans against each other so we will be fragmented and less likely to become united in our beliefs.

If we criticize and complain about their corruption and anti-American policies on importing the world they’ll demean and call us bigots. Yeah off subject slightly but not in its entirety.

If the shooter was following procedure then it’s murder 1.

Obviously the victim was white and Christian or Al Sharpton et al would be in Georgia.

That's the problem! Cops in this country are out of control. But the media only covers it when there's a racial angle. Then, all the low-information types revert to 1970 roles. The "conservatives" who defend the Tamir Rice murder are just as bad as the most radical BLMs. And the government thugs will keep on killing us and our pets.

This poor senior citizen was obviously a victim of “shoot first ask questions or announce entry later” police training, which is counter to our public interests. Is their philosophy about protecting and serving the public first or about taking out all threats perceived or imagined first? If police are not wiling to take risks in order to better protect the public then don’t deserve to be cops.

But his wife, who was standing outside in the garage area, near her husband, never heard the officers say a word

I believe the wife, not the killer cop.
