Sessions, on Fox Sunday (Bret Baier, not Chris Wallace, hooray!) did the expected fine job. Bret was pressing on the "Trump is a racist" angle, with the remarks about judge Curiel. Sessions gave a very good answer, generally that Trump was frustrated with the way the judge is ruling.
Asked to opine why no recusal motion has been filed, Sessions pointed out that the bar for such a recusal is very high, and the lawyers likely doubt it has been met.
I'm watching ABC, waiting for Manafort, and Stephanoplis is playing his interview with Paul Ryan, and playing up the differences between Trump and Ryan.
Now Georgie is saying the Egyptian Airlines was not terrorism and Trump was wrong.
Asked about Ryan's interview, Manafort says Ryan and Trump have plenty in common, both believe the system has to change, both agree that Hillary is an establishment candidate. Meg Whitman compared Trump to Mussolini and Hitler, says Stephanopolis, at the Romney confab.
Manafort says Romney could have gotten into the race this year, he didn't. Trump is doing better with Hispanics and others than Romney did, so Romney doesn't have room to criticize. The Curiel question again, as well as beating Trump at the convention. Manafort says there won't be serious issues at the convention. What the press is giving attention to is five of six people (the Romney crew).
The press is reporting that Trump has no campaign structure, that is as wrong as all the reports the press has made on Trump so far, he won't run, he's not serious, he can't win, etc.
Stephanopolis asks if Hillary will outspend Trump. He says no, Trump and GOP fundraising is going to go well.
Good interview, ABC is having sanders, live, next. I'm not going to watch that swill. back to old westerns!
I hope Trump picks Sessions for his veep. He’s as conservative as we have hope to get and a decent pol.
Just watched both interviews. Sessions is OK but I almost wish he was tougher. Manafort is a bruiser.
PS - For example:
(paraphrasing)
Sessions: Well that’s a statement he probably shouldn’t have made...congress has to answer questions...get back to the issues...
Manafort: Mr. Trump has already dealt with that issue. He dismissed it.
