Placing evil people in the highest levels of government bureaucracy. What could go wrong?

Can employers still do background checks without the applicant giving permission?

There are numerous ways to get around illegal questions.

Google is notorious for age discrimination. How did they do it?

By looking at your graduation date (high school and/or college).

Graduated before a certain date, and your resume went in the trash.

I tried to enroll in some bible courses on line, from Liberty University. Their pull down menu didn’t go back to 1963. Another problem was they wanted to know the name of the high school I graduated from, I could give them that easily. Problem is that high school doesn’t exist any more.

An employer can ask an employee any question they damn well please during the course of a job interview or application process, and the applicant can then decide how important answering that question is before responding.

It's called "Freedom". People ought to try it out sometime.

What do you expect in a country with the Dear Leader using a Connecticut SS number and does not have a birth certificate?

Okay, I read here that your name is Ed. That’s all I was allowed to ask. If you are a woman, a transsexual, a swinging dork who identifies as a woman, or just such a mess you really don't know, click on the "When Do I Start" tab just below.

If you are a man, thanks anyway.

So If I know that blacks are more likely to be felons, but I cannot check if they are a felon, does it make it more or less likely that I will hire a black candidate?

I would seriously make the case that it makes it less likely a black candidate would get hired because why take the chance if I can’t check?

The way I read it they don’t have to check a box saying that they have a criminal history but you can still check to see if they have one before you make a hiring decision.

So that makes it a moot point. Because if they weren’t checking before, they will now.

It’s now 24 states.

“There are a total of 24 states representing nearly every region of the country that have adopted the policies —California (2013, 2010), Colorado (2012), Connecticut (2010), Delaware (2014), Georgia (2015), Hawaii (1998), Illinois (2014, 2013), Louisiana (2016), Maryland (2013), Massachusetts (2010), Minnesota (2013, 2009), Missouri (2016), Nebraska (2014), New Jersey (2014), New Mexico (2010), New York (2015), Ohio (2015), Oklahoma (2016), Oregon (2015), Rhode Island (2013), Tennessee (2016), Vermont (2015, 2016), Virginia (2015), and Wisconsin (2016). Nine states—Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont—have removed the conviction history question on job applications for private employers, which advocates embrace as the next step in the evolution of these policies.”
