Letting Hildebeast off the hook for this is NOT IRRELEVANT! It will do very grave damage to the Rule of Law for as long as the Republic continues to exist.

I remember Watergate. A lot of people who thought Nixon was doing a good job as President nonetheless supported his impeachment on the greater principle of upholding the rule of law.
