Where the term “field day” comes from. I don’t know how old the term is, probably since WW-I. Whenever an Army unit went out on bivouac or out in the field, there were many more new hookers available to other troops. The expression for “we’re going to have fun with this” was “we’re going to have a field day”.

I seriusly doubt the Admiral consulted the Master Chief on this.

I beg to differ. By the time they reach the Fleet/Force Command Master Chief level they have been completely emasculated and are no less political than the flag officers they work for.
